Here it is folks:

The camera didn't get the true deep blue color of the dash though. I'm getting mine in red.

Vee-Dubs ... eat your heart out... you ain't the only ones with cool gauges anymore. :D

dash lights

this maybe a dumb question but are those blue light bulbs or those polarg hyper whites?

clee130 Sep 1, 2001 12:13 AM

Re: dash lights

Those are #194 L.E.D. bulbs.

looks good, where did you get the bulbs again? Take Care

TurDz Sep 1, 2001 01:39 AM

yeah, there was that other thread, but we should post again about where you can buy them. Isn't someone trying to find the place that the local shop buys 'em from?

Those look real good! Especially with the GloNeedles. :jump:

Weasel Sep 1, 2001 01:40 AM

That looks amazing... I'm so doing this. Is there anywhere to get the bulbs online?

TurDz Sep 1, 2001 01:46 AM

just wait, there should be someone who posts this info soon. Be patient!! :D

or try searching for 194 LEDs...maybe you'll find something :)

syc Sep 1, 2001 01:47 AM

Are those IntelliGlow Needles? if not, how blue will the needles show in dark?

ny96max Sep 1, 2001 08:51 AM

hey CLEE thanks for taking the pics last night. Too bad the cops had to ruin the night, but there is always tonight :D
I really wanted to see that 94 turbo civic race that Subaru.

As for my gauges, ALL i have is the LED blue 194's. From the pic it looks like indiglo, but its not. You still cant really tell how they look at night unless you see them in person. Like i said earlier in my post they illuminate just as dark as the new VW gauges(deep blue and very evenly)

Ill know by monday where my shop gets them from.

thanks again Calvin, you da man!!

Anthony

Places to get LED #194s

I found a couple of website that sell #194 LEDs.

LED 194 Amber:
http://store.yahoo.com/streetbeatcu...d194ambule.html

LED 194 Red:
http://store.yahoo.com/streetbeatcu...dbul.html

Also these:
http://www.ppsonline.net/light.htm
and
http://www.graphicartmotodesign.com...es/products.htm

I'm ordering red next week. :D

Ravq Sep 1, 2001 09:29 PM

Looks good! How many LEDs did it take? And are they all the same size?

Kashoggio Sep 1, 2001 09:34 PM

very cool, much better then my green 194 i have now. But what is the life on those bulbs?

clee130 Sep 1, 2001 10:04 PM

Ravq: There are five main lights that light up the gauge cluster. And they are all #194s.

Kashoggio: LEDs should last a while, but some of the "newer" color LEDs like green and purple might have less life than "older" color LEDs like red and white.

That really look SOOOOO GOOD! no Indiglo Needles? that's so amazing!

abnorm Sep 2, 2001 12:11 AM

Do 97+ models also use #194?

1HOTMAX Sep 2, 2001 06:12 AM

97-99

this can not be done.....i repeat, this can not be done. we use a tiny jap buln that they don't make in diff colors. they are half the size of the 194. maybe smaller. i bit bigger than a led

Sonic Sep 2, 2001 06:19 AM

The '95-'97s have CLEAR needles, so whatever color illuminates the dash is the color of the needle.

That means there is no need to get Intelliglow needles. :D

let me clear that up a bit. i have a 97 se these models come stock with the white face gauges and the needles are red.so in my case i would need the blue needles.by the way i thought the bulbs behind the gauges are the 194 . are these same ones the light below the corner light uses.is this correct? i may be wrong.

Doesn't 95-97 have the same gauge cluster? I thought they changed it for 98...

Are you sure LEDs won't fit 97??? 97s suppose to have white needles and 98 is the year they switched to digital od and red needles...

sickmen Sep 2, 2001 12:26 PM

are they brighter than 5W xeon bulbs?
I'm thinking about going with 18W 168 blubs..
any thought about 168 18W bulbs?

clee130 Sep 2, 2001 01:46 PM

Not really sure about them being brighter than the xeon bulbs cause I haven't really seen some in person.

But putting in 18w 168 is dangerous. You could melt something in your gauge cluster.

JFloyd1 Sep 3, 2001 01:10 AM

Umm....skip the gauges (they're sweet, tho') I want to know how you got the red Nissan emblem.

MAX420 Sep 3, 2001 06:19 AM

Wow, those look really nice. I'd like to know where you purchased them from and for how much. I recently spend $70 on 168 PIAA Plasma Blue Bulbs for my gauge after getting a SE cluster gauge. It turned out to look pink with a very slight hint of blue at direct light. I was really sad that after spending so much it turned out to be garbage. Now i have no use for these PIAA blubs and have no clue on what to do. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks.

Kevlo911 Sep 3, 2001 06:57 AM

has anyone changed their bulbs in a 97? it has to be 194, i am possitive that the 95-97 have the exact same guage cluster,98-99 have the differ size bulb and stuff not 97

ATTENTION everyone! i have recently pulled out my led gauge lights due to multiple problems with the bulbs themselves. First last week i had the speedo light flickering on me as well as the temp bulb. And now last night now its the tach bulb flickering and dimming by itself. So i pulled them out and installed the good old STOCK bulbs, lol. Now i have 2 bulbs that work fine so i put them in my door lights.
So now when i get some extra cash ill be some hyper whites or a different brand LED bulb.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up! :D

Anthony

clee130 Sep 3, 2001 06:04 PM

Doh!

Still dont' know which brand LED they were, huh? Cause I'm wondering if it was just that brand or just the 194 LEDs in general.
