Max mod's

Just bought a 96' Nissan Maxima GLE, interested in modifying it, any information would be nice, especially some more info about an ecu upgrade.

Start with a stillen, JWT, or cattman intake. greddy, stillen, or APEXI exhaust. Mobiletek VB mod. and other stuff to lazy to put on.

These mods are good

Performance :

First get the Intake like said above. Anywhere from 40 - 120 bucks. Look around or try Ebay i got mine for like 50. If you can do a Cold Air intake that is even better than a regular filter. But it comes at a little higher of a price then you need to cut into your fender.

Second - Go for the Y Pipe. It will give you about 15-25(?) horses for the least amount of money. I would look at Budget Exhaust because they are about 200 Bucks. If you look on there site and it says more it is because it is in canadian.

Third - More exhaust work - Either a muffler, or maybe a Catalytic converter. Supposedly some people say the converter does not do anything while others say up to 10 horses you gain. It is about 100 bucks.

Fourth - Unorthadox Underdrive Pulley. It is around 175 - 200 or so. It frees up around 5 HP.

Fifth - I dont know if you got a 5 Speed but Redline Tranny Fluid makes it run smooth.

Well if you go that route for performance then it will be a nice start and feel some big pull differences.

Looks :

Can go for alot of thigns on this
Exterior
1. Rims - Up to around 20's can fit but most stick with 18's
2. Springs / Struts - Drop it all around near 1.5 to 2 inches. Gets rid of wheel gap.
3. New tires to to for a lower profile look.
4. Body Kits
5. Red / Clear tails
6. Clear Corners
7. Maxima.org stickers :)
8. Grills

Interiror :
1. Aluminum mats
2. Custom interior leather setups.
3. Indiglo Pedals
4. Dash Kits
5. Neon Kits

All sorts of stuff here. Check places like http://www.custommaxima.org and other sites around like that. This should give you an idea to get going though.

....

I noticed nobody mentioned ECU upgrades..

The ECU's give a good gain on horsepower and whatnot.. JWT has one, and ummm .. Unorthodox Racing the other (I think) .. Some claim the Unortho's better. It's newer, so it could be  ..

Go to www.jimwolftechnology.com for one, or www.maximadriver.com for the other, Cheston can probably hook you up with the beans.

ECU is somewhere between 5-15hp gains at most points. Some have been dyno'd to do nutty amounts of HP gains (like 17-21) in some points of the powerband I believe. ECU's run around $400-600 bones, so if best bang-for-the-buck is in your mind, do:

(clear corners! bang for the buck! hohohoho), Intake, Y-pipe, Don's VB mod if you're an automatic, ECU..

:D
