Best to stick with the Nissan OEM filters. Why use anything else when Nissan filters are also the least expensive ($4.75 each at my dealer).

Who makes Nissan filters? I heard that Toyota filters are made by Fram.

Toyota filters are made by Denso and are by far the best filters money can buy. Bosch filters are not much better than Fram. Stick with a Nissan filter or a Hastings.

Toyota filters are not made by Allied Signal (who market FRAM). Fram has a distinctive plastic sleeve inside the filter, and a cheap bypass valve. Open up a Toyota filter and it's just as high quality as a Nissan filter, if not more so. Denso makes many parts for Toyotas, so I would not be surprised if Denso made Toyota filters as well.
