Car squeaks.... suspension...

What it is? car squeaking like crazy, coming from front suspension.

ROCKART 12-10-2007 06:27 AM

pads/rotors?

what do you mean by suspension? how do you know?

does it only happen when you go over bumps?

Scott LaRock 12-10-2007 06:32 AM

over bumps, someone said the rubber under the big cap is wore and that is causing it to squeak.

maxx0831 12-10-2007 06:33 AM

oh s***, same thing is happening to me. At first I had really bad struts and there were dead, so i replaced all 4 . and my passenger side axle since it was torn. I thought the squeak would go away but it wont.

Scott LaRock 12-10-2007 06:44 AM

It's annoying... but the part cost like 40 each but then you have to remove the strut which is about 80 bucks as well... so consider it 120.00 to fix.

sucks

Hey Scott, um wuts the name of the part. Bc removing the strut aint a problem for me, i got a friend dat ows his shop, i jus slap him wit a 100 and he does wut eva needs fixing. Also can stablizer links cause noise, i need to change those too

Scott LaRock 12-10-2007 08:17 AM

I think it's called the rubber strut boot, it's just a small rubber that goes under the cap under the hood, I have to get the fully name of the part, have to find that paper.

maxx0831 12-10-2007 08:23 AM

alright thanks, let me no

I just replaced my suspension, the part you're think about is either the strut bearing or the strut mount. Strut bearing is a plastic ring which may cause the squeaks...I replaced 2 of mine with new suspension but left the strut mounts alone. Worked like a charm.

Definately change out the bearings also if your going to replace the strut mount. I didn't and had to take the struts off again. Got mine from my dealer for about 18 bucks each. You can rent a spring compressor from a local auto parts store for under ten bucks and should be able to pull and swap the parts out in 2 hours by yourself. Get it alligned afterwards if your ride is lowered. Hope dat heps

I have been having the same problem in my car. It would go away when it rained though. However, mine isn't suspension problems its the sway bar end links. When we got under the car and shook it up and down we saw there was play on the driver's side one but not the passenger. Every once in a while I get a "clunk" sound from it too. Going to change it out tomorrow, the part was only 20 bucks from Advanced Auto

emoore924 12-11-2007 12:28 PM

The bushings for the sway bar will do the same thing...

MaxiiMa 12-11-2007 06:23 PM

check handbrake cables... thats what they were for me, everyone said different things, until everntually the cables seized and i unhooked them from the caliper at both rear ends, squeak gone...
