Question about Intake Air Temp Sensor and MAF sensor

I have had a bad O2 sensor for a while and the SES light has been on. Recently my fuel mileage dropped significantly even from the poor mileage I was getting with the bad O2. I checked my codes this morning and it gave me one for intake air temp sensor and one for the MAF sensor as well as the Bank 1 O2 sensor. My question is whether it is posible to clean the IAT and MAF or if once they set a code that they are DOA (need to get new ones?) I have read about cleaning the MAF very gently and carefully but have not really seen anything about the IAT. Also I know the MAF will affect gas mileage but what about the IAT? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Matt

usually once a code is thrown for those items they are DOA. MAF might be able to be fixed with a cleaning but doubtful. MAF should probly be the top priority to fix imo.

Wow...RockAuto has it for 225 plus core.....I hope I can clean it. Does this sound like the culprit to 12-15 mpg? I guess the way gas prices are I will break even in about a year:-)

ya MAFs are expensive new. look for a used one in the classifieds. that bad of mpg is probably the result of several things.

well.... I took off the Maf and sprayed it lightly with CRC MAF sensor cleaner. Changed fuel filter and air filter. When I put everything back together it would start but cut out when I gave it gas. GREAT I thought. MAF is definately Dead now. Checked codes and got the MAF again as well as O2. Had to get one right now so got one at Autozone for 224 with core exchange. Put in and runs great now. Hopefully that was my problem. Thanks for the help.
