I've Finally Found the How-to-guide to install a stereo head unit!
i've been searching high and low, near and far, above and beyond and have not had any success finding how to remove/install a stereo head unit in a 98 maxima on this website ( maxima.org ) or talked to anyone who could really give me the details of this somewhat involved process. however, my search has come to an end. i recently searched google, hopelessly one last time, to try and find the instructions or a how-to manual on how to install a stereo head unit for my 98 maxima...and eureka! i've found it!! if anyone is looking for a manual like this just goto: installdr.com, then click on "install it yourself", then click on the make of your car and then the model..and by jove YOU've GOT YoURSELF A HOW-TO STEP-By-STEP INSTRUCTION BOOK WITH MANUAL IN DETAIL!! I'm so excited about this cuz i've been looking for about a month with no resulting success. I bet someone out there reading this probably is saying to themselves " I already knew that website?" WELL GOOD FOR YOU!

Thanks to whoever posted this one earlier: http://www.installdr.com/ it's got tons of basic info in it. I didn't get into the detailed portions of it, but it answers about 99% of the BASIC car audio questions. (i.e. where, why, how should I mount this?). It also includes some wiring diagrams for our cars, and looks to have info about the bose systems "under construction"... maybe we'll see something there soon. |
... as usual. glad you found what you were looking for and i hope you learned your lesson. STICKIES FTW!

I've finally found out how to remove the stereo head unit and...
I've finally found out how to remove the stereo head unit. I removed everything except for the wire plugged into the back of the stereo head unit. I have an OEM 1998 Maxima with a standard non-bose cd player and there are these wires in the back that i can't get out. They are kind of similar to the wires plugged into the back of the hazard button cuz i couldn't get that out either. it's like it has no release button or anything to pull it out. It's simply stuck. but i'm not about to goto a shop to get it done. I'm positive i can do this. I've done it once before, so I know I can do it again. But could someone pleease advise me as to how to remove these "super glued" wires from the back of my audio head unit, please?
