MEVI w/ ECU

I just purchased a MEVI and now I need an ECU to gain the full potential of it. I have a 1999 Maxima so the JWT will not work for me. What computer will allow me to get the most out of my MEVI? I was leaning towards something like emanage blue, but wanted to see what others thought.

Thanks for the help!!

JWT does to make ECU for us 99s. They didnt in the beginning because of the immobolizer but they do now.

Id go EU tho...

Umm, NO. JWT makes ECU's for 95's and 96's only.

No one makes a modified ECU for the 99's, your best bet is an Emanage.

To get the full potential of your MEVI - get a JWT or Technosquare ECU with extended rev limiter.

They do make a jwt for a 99 cause I have one in my car..

In fact there are a couple of 99's on the org that have them.

You cant use a Technosqare. They never made it work.

I think someone told to it was a 99ecu but really sold you a 96

I called jwt and ts 2weeks and neither makes a ecu for 97-99. jwt does have a 95-96ecu that will work on 97-99 and ts said they only do 01+ ecu's now

I had the 1999 ECU done. The needed a 96 ecu as a core.

Ok what you do is use a 95-96 ecu and send it to jwt. Tell jwt that you want it jwt'ified and that you are using it for a 99. Then they rewire it to use on a 99. You will lose your immobalizer and cel will be on but it works fine. People w 97-98 use the same ecu from 95-96 with a cel on all the time. You will pay for the typical jwt upgrade plus $50 more to convert to a 99. Or get an ecu with jwt program already and then send it to jwt for the 99 rewire for $50.

I know zack342 was the first one to get it done.

Greddy's Emanage Ultimate gets my vote. Do some research on it.

Having just spoke with Ben at JWT a couple weeks ago, they have NEVER modified 99 ECU's, nor 97 or 98's for that matter. You can use a 95-96 ECU on your 99, but that does not make it a 99 ECU.

Whatever... it works in a 99. I went thru Ben to do mine.

Forget JWT get the EU and dyno tune that sucker, Extend revs to 7300rpms, that way when you shift you do it at 7200 before you hit the limiter and when you shift you are still in the VI range...

I think it really depends on how invested you are in tuning..

I had the EU to manage my supercharger setup bc of the inherent benefits it has over the JWT. Unfortunately I never got to tune with it bc i ended up selling the supercharger kit for money for college, but now Ive recently purchased a new MEVI and will be using the JWT program to extend the rev limiter. The EU does allow for multiple fuel maps which is kick@ss if you wanna run an advanced timing NA setup and toggle maps for a nitrous run. However Ive decided to just stick purely NA and dont really feel like messing with tuning per se. The wiring harness on the EU is a nightmare. For some people, thats right up their alley, being able to tinker with all that. For me, as a college kid with only one car, the idea of a pre-programmed chip that is plug and play is very attractive. I just dont have the time or money (or down time with the car) the try to install the EU.

The main point behind all this being, yes the EU is king when it comes to tuning capabilities between the two. However it also requires alot more in terms of installation IMHO. I know there are tuning and electronic gurus out there who would argue with me, but for where im at and what I want to do, JWT with a VAFC II to fuel map and indirectly adjust timing will work for me just fine.
