Cat fighting with bees?

Right, so about a week ago i got a new noise from my car. Yay, its entertaining fixing it every couple of weeks. All my components are OEM btw. No CEL codes.

Anyways;

The noise: Happens all the time, gets more noticeable with acceleration. Sounds like rattling or bees, very similar to when the heat shield from the oem y-pipe rusts off and vibrates on top of the pipe. Very evident.

Location: 100% sure its coming from under the car and not the engine. somewhere near the cat area - not sure have not looked yet

Question: What does a bad cat sound like? does it throw a code? thats what the rear o2 is for right?

Also, i know the exhaust heat shield has been sitting there since i bought the car. It has rusted off but i could never get it out, why would it all of the sudden be vibrating and causing a noise? Is there a chance that there is a tiny whole where the pipes connect to each other? cause i dont know what would have caused this since i never hit anything wit hthe underbelly of my car...thanks

Dunno, but my warpspeed does the same thing only at 2000-2100 rpms then goes away. So i dont think anythings loose, might be a leak of some sort.

They don't always make noise, but when they do they siound similiar to what you just described, but theoretically it should throw a code, that's what the rear o2 is for, but especially if you still have your stock Y, that's not gauranteed by any means.

I'd eleminate any possibility of a rattle first (hummm, like your HEATSHEILD! which you mentioned is suspect) , because just something loose rattling gets my first vote.

You said it does it all the time, duplicate it and use a tool of some sorts to apply pressure to things and see if anything makes the rattle stop.
