rattling noise when turning up bass
Ok, I had this problem on my ex-car, a 95 Altima GXE, and now on my current car a 97 GXE Maxima. When I turn the bass up all the way or even just a bit, and like a rap song comes on, I hear like a metal rattling...its really annoying and means I pretty much have to listen to **** and keep the bass off unless I want to hear that annoying metal rattling sound. Anyone else experience this? Any solutions?

have a spoiler?

No.
|
stock system?
|
Bass might be shot. Mine does just that, and it's the bass.
|
Yea stock system.

im almost certain based on your symptoms that you have a loose piece of metal somewhere that needs to be tightened.
or maybe you got some loose change in your armrest. ...seriously, it could be anything |
maybe its your trunk.:)

...sorry for the sarcasm but this thread sucks |
agreed, could be a lot of different things. I have the same model and the bass on the stock system speakers on yours would have almost certainly blown out by now (I replaced mine 2 years ago from a 98 gxe and the bass on those it terrible now too). If you want take off your front door panels and the things that hold the back speakers in and make sure they are bolted on tight, besides that just invest in a new set of speakers if it really bothers you that much

noob, noob, noob. please get a brain and come back later.....:bonk:

try pulling/pushing on the built in handle of the passenger side door panel. i had a vibration noise (could sound like a rattle i guess) coming from the passenger door panel shaking when the bass hit.

our cars are old and when you crank up the volume even on the blose system it rattles. dynomat the trunk lid and doors and stop the insanity!!!!
|
should be sumin really simple.
|
do you have a round about idea where it is coming from? trunk, ds door. ps door etc? if its the trunk i would check the power antena brackets and also your spare tire cover i took the cover out and replaced it with a 1/2 peice of wood cut to the form of the trunk carpet

I have a rattling sound in my 96max with bose. turned out to be some CD cases in the passenger side door sleeve :-p
|
Put in sound deadening, its relatively cheap if you buy it direct from the source. My stock system did that and so did the new head unit. Now i have some SD in the doors and im putting more in the trunk this week and its noticeably better. Go to the audio forum and theres a sticky called the definative sound deadening thread. Should answer all your questions.

Have you checked your rear deck lid where the stock 6.5" speakers sit? That badboy will rattle on occasion.
|
in the trunk there are tin metal bars that hold the trunk open. Mine were a lil too close and cause of the bass from my sub, they were hitting each other and rattling, so i duct taped them. lol
Ceck it, they run under the back speakers i think. |
1) Place right hand in front of you
2) Extend index finger out straight like you're pointing 3) Bend finger 90 degrees 4) Bend elbow so finger it pointed at side of head 5) Insert finger into ear canal Repeat with left hand. |
my ash tray use to rattle, just listen to where its coming from.
|
why dont u put up the bass when the car is parked n go see where the rattling noise is coming from....duhhhhhhhhhh
|
just dont listen to your music so loud :)

Granted I have a system, but when the bass hits in my car the rear seat belt buckles with rattle against the plastic piece at the bottom of the belt. I have to make sure that I push the buckles all the way up before I start driving so that it doesn't get on my nerves. Other than that, just check to make sure there are no tears on the speaker cones, and try to find the direction the noise originates from so that you can isolate your problem.
