i was asking myself the same question....

BLACKonBLACK98 Feb 24, 2008 11:35 AM

i think everything that is available now is through ebay (probably all from the same one or two taiwanese manufacturers). i've heard of fitment issues and have personally had issues with 1 of the ebay sellers (atomicstreet).

see if depo still makes them.

Be better off making them yourself if you have the time to. I know blackonblack98 will be making some later in the year, im assuming they will look really good too.

Before I bought my LED tails I ordered red/clear tails from ebay. The fitment was perfect. Just like stock.

Which seller did you get the tails from?
How was the quality?

best red.white tails are the retrofited oem ones, its cheaper and nothing fits better then stock.

I got a set from c.e. back in the day when they were still a respectable company to deal with. It would seem that purchaseing these products is a lot like purchasing a set of Nike shoes. One manufacturer, but many sellers. They are all going to be the same.
Fitment is fine, and the outer (new) lens almost matches the inners. If your that concerned, look for a set of the smoked ones as they will replace all 4 lens. On the other hand, if your looking for a 95/6 set, I have heard that the fitment of those is crappy.
95/6 set is a diamond cut design. Some members like them and some don't. What ever.

This is the reason to miss CE - despite the bad deals described by some org members, they always treated me well - 2 sets of red/clears, 2002 AE shift knob, diamond clear corners and bulbs.

All the more reason to continue supporting vendors that deliver those goodies that target our little car niche - cattman, for example.

Here's what I found:

Red/smoked tails:

This is the same guy I bought my red/clear tails from:

Can't believe how cheap these things are now...I paid a little over $100 when I got mine.

 thats a horrible photoshop they have in their link lol. 97 red/clears on a 95 with horrendous fitment. The red/clears I have had fitment issues on the outter right, but I have no idea who they were from. I'd go with this link though, its a fair price. I think it's just the outters if that matters to you.

I think making them is the best way too. And you cannot beat the price.

ROCKART Mar 7, 2008 06:09 AM

my complaint with making them myself was that the outers (becuase of the pyramid pattern acryllic i used) is now DARKER than the inners. i searched long and hard and couldnt find the proper type of clear acryllic. basically you need a piece of thick clear acryllic with vertical ribs to create the grid pattern you find on the OEM inners

can i just do the same thing i did with my outers to my inners to make them match? anyone ever done this?

QnzMax Mar 7, 2008 06:51 AM

HAHAHAHA LOL. I didn't even look at that picture. Although the PS is crappy, the tails should be good. I can't guarantee you that they'll fit but when I bought them they were fine.
