Coilover and Strut/Spring Guys... What'd You Pay?
 

I've been told and have read that after all is tolled up, buying a strut/spring setup will pretty much cost the same as buying coilovers.

What did everyone pay for their various setups?

The fee to install will be the same. You might have an additional fee for setting up the coilover. I'm almost certain that you will have a fee for setting up the coilover... It can take up to an hour to get the right height and dampening...

Prices can vary greatly, but this is somewhat true. My setup cost me around $600 (excluding new dust boots, strut bearings, and other misc. parts), but I did the installation myself.

If you have a garage and you've ever worked on cars, you can do it yourself. It's not hard.

The price to install spring strut would be more because you have to first mount the spring on the strut. The price to purchase coilovers is more so it about evens out. coilovers are direct bolt on with the old struts. If you have any mechanical knowledge you can install coilovers easily. Remember tho coilovers perform better and can give u a better drop BUT Ride realy rough.

false. all coilovers do not perform better, nor do all coilovers ride rough.

you can buy just as high quality off the shelf shocks with same adjustability and what not that can be custom valved to suite your application. it doesn't necessarily make coilovers any better. the harshness has to do w/ the spring rates. depending on the company, you could ask them if they offer softer spring rates.

I like the drop. What suspension are you using?

I paid $812 for my Tein coilovers yeeeaaars ago and they ride nice and I'm happier than a pig in shyt.

if you start putting Konis in each corner and getting custom springs made up im sure coilovers work out to be a bit cheaper
