my car sucks in the rain!!!

so if the road is a little wet, my car slides like theres no tomorrow. i dont know what the problem is but i need this fixed ASAP!! the first problem im going to tackle is getting my car aligned. my allignment is a little off so im hoping thats the problem. any ideas or suggestions on why my car has such bad traction in the rain. ps my tires are practically brand new!

dineth00i30 05-21-2008 10:26 AM

maybe you baught some kind of performance tire that doesnt performe well on rain? get some nice tires that are all season or has good wet traction.

jojo98maxima 05-21-2008 10:33 AM

good tires that is all u need

maxx0831 05-21-2008 11:28 AM

^^ couldnt agree with u more, Tires is the Most

IHAVEA2KMAXIMA 05-21-2008 11:33 AM

Is your CEL on? Because it can affect how your tires perform especially in the rain.

What brand new tires do you have anyway?

4GRookie 05-21-2008 11:35 AM

I was having trouble in the rain myself a few years back. My tires weren't great...but it so happened that my alignment was off and it caused my tires to wear heavily on the inside where I couldn't really notice. Turns out, it was the toe that was really off...likely after I changed out my tie rod. In any case my tires felt like they were going in different directions in the rain. So it could be just your alignment...but you wont be sure until you get it checked out. Now is the time to get it done since you just bought new tires.

udienow 05-21-2008 12:14 PM

... you need better tires.

df8888 05-21-2008 12:19 PM

Had same problem but is was caused by lca bushings and ball joint being shot.

kymax96 05-21-2008 12:49 PM

all maximas have trouble in the rain. my maxima slides in the rain like its going out of style. just learn to start braking way early

Are you sure about this? I sure dont seem to have a problem with mine. Actually ill say mine handles better in the rain! Oh wait that because I have tires that perform slightly better in the rain than dry.

It all in the tires. Crappy tires arent gonna handle good in wet weather and as the tire wears the braking distance keeps getting longer in the rain.

dineth00i30 05-21-2008 05:55 PM

i forgot to tell you if you have bad wiper blades then the car cant see where it going so it slides.

Product_Of_Korea 05-21-2008 07:11 PM

yeah i would say tires :)

i recently had to rotate my tires cause mine where going bald up front causing me to hydroplane. im sure it would be the same effect if you had some performance tires on

dgeesaman 05-21-2008 07:50 PM

If it's slipping between the tires and road, that says something. Especially because you only have control over one half of that equation.

maybe it's trying to do the Cha Cha Slide...

slide to the left...slide to the right...

No, it's just the driver.

ALL Maximas have trouble in the rain? D'oh. Mine doesn't. I guess if the driver has three legs and can't figure which one to use on the loud pedal, maybe then ... anyway, ABS rules!

If you never ever see snow, that's a good solution.
