Unknown suspension noise...

While driving and turning the wheel even slightly I am suddenly hearing a lot of creaking from the front suspension. My mechanic heard the noise but could not find any real problem and said everything is tight and greased. It only makes the creaking noise while driving. Any ideas???

I have newer Tokico HP shocks and struts which are fine and only have about 20k on them. Can't figure this one out yet...

Did you replace the bearing on the upper strut mount when you had them replaced?

What about those plastic pieces that wrap around the top and bottom of the spring (I cant remember what there called) if you don't have those on there the noise could be coming from the coils rubbing together.

Did you grease that plastic bearing under the strut mount? Those two items that the springs ride in are rubber and they are called isolators and if they are in bad condition there could be some noise produced due to spring movement!

Thanks for suggesting the possibilities. The only thing we came up with is something with the upper strut mounts which are original. But the mechanic stated that he still visually sees nothing wrong and even though the noise is very annoying, not to run and dismantle everything yet. The only other thing is that the front stock springs appear to have the some of the coating rubbed off on the very top of them indicating that there is some contact there. Again it may be due to the strut mounts.

What ashame... this car finally hits 10 years old, only has 116,000 miles on it and now everything is falling apart. I just replaced the exhaust, the rear main engine seal and clutch only 3 months ago. Don't want it to become the money pit....

I had similar noise at low speeds (parking etc) - it was lower control arm . . . accompanied by slight 'pop' of joint when hitting driveways etc. Just a thought.

-sway bar end-links usually squeak (not creak)
-most likely it's your strut mount bearings
