Have you checked your transmission fluid level?

Llfe Sep 29, 2008 04:37 PM

yes...i checked and it's at the right level...although it looks kind of dirty...should i flush the tranny fluid out??? if so, is it difficult?

JtzMax Sep 29, 2008 04:37 PM

That is the first thing to check. You might have lost your trans ... check the fluid and report back

Llfe Sep 29, 2008 05:18 PM

i checked it and it's at the right level but doesn't look bright red...duller and looks thinned out???

is it difficult to replace the tranny fuild? and how?...i looked under the stickies already and didn't find out how to flush the tranny fluid

krzymax Sep 29, 2008 05:43 PM

I have a good feeling your transmission has crapped out on you. =(

JtzMax Sep 29, 2008 07:23 PM

yea, if the fluid level is ok, you probably lost a pump inside the trans. any funny noises?

hot_wax_tree Sep 29, 2008 08:06 PM

I would say out. that happend to me in a school car it was a neon but the exact same thing I should ask them what the shop had to do to fix it.

any who there is a drain plug on the bottom of your tranny.

update...

took it to my friend's dad's place and he scanned my car for error codes and came up with:

P0325
P0744
P0731

what do i do now?

Llfe Sep 30, 2008 09:48 PM

i was thinking it could be a hydraulic control circuit problem??? b/c P0744 and P0731 both refer to hydraulic control circuit as a probably cause...and i'm thinking that the P0325 knock sensor code doesn't really affect the reverse and 1st gear problem???

P0744 is TCC, P0731 is 1st gear fault. Definitely seems to be a trans issue.

Most likely your solenoid pack, if you're on your original one. Nissan released a TSB about them, along with updated kit.

I agree with Pmohr .... you probably lost a pump or solinoide pack and that is why it's throwing you those codes. And, you're right ... the P0325 (KS) has nadda to do with your trany. Time to start looking for a good used one. I saw one local (SW Missouri) for $325 a week or so ago. It was out of a 00' with 65k miles. To give you an idea anyway. You can find good deals, just gotta look around mate. G'luck!

Llfe Oct 2, 2008 11:31 AM

should I replace the solenoid or just look for a new tranny??

tallkid2201 Oct 2, 2008 12:02 PM

def new tranny :(

JtzMax Oct 2, 2008 03:47 PM

yea, the solinoide pack is inside the trany ... look for a new trans. to get yours rebuilt, you're probably looking at ~$1500 or so, likely more.

Are you an AE?

Assuming the trans has never been swapped out, check the VIN plate on the firewall. RE4F04A is open, RE4F04V is VLSD.
