Thinking about going CAI
ok so ive been very bored lately and need to do something different with the car. im thinking about switching my short ram to a cold air.
what would you recommend as the best way of setting it up.
i know theres around the front of the block or cutting a hole in the wheel well.
suggestions?

it isnt above the wheel, its inside the fender, away from all sources of heat, with a fresh supply of cold air. its awesome down in TN never gets to hot here, and in the winter its cold. so good cold air now, few months itll be really cold. and I can tell a difference in performance, everybody says it affects low end, but this is an auto and i can spin tires like its nothing

Also would it be possible to extend that pipe, so that the filter was right by the left front foglight, and if you removed the fog light, it would let air hit the filter which means you would truly have a CAI/Ram of cold air right into the filter?

Ok well, would the one that I posted go through the fender wall? Because honestly i'm just looking for an intake that go's through the fender wall to get colder air, unfortunatley I went with the Injen, and can feel when it get's heat soaked after about 20 minutes of Hard driving. I want something sucking cold air lol, but I cant afford to spend another $300...

You could just pick up one of these cheaper one's and use the bent pipe section that goes into the fender if you want to go with the setup I have. Then pick up a K&N air filter. Or use the whole setup. But I prefer to use the resonator box.

But yes I am using the stock resonator box, and 1 piece of a CAI kit. It was a bomz kit from years ago because there really wasn't anything else out at the time at the same price. Now the market is flooded with them and the one I linked above will work fine. My car doesn't have fog lights so the air is not blocked by it, however any filter in the fender is going to get clean cold air regardless if there is a fog light or not.

Haha man I would buy it if I didnt only have about $150 in my bank account right now...im a poor college student all my money went into what I have in my car right now, so if any one is feeling pretty generous lol you can PM me, if not I will have to wait two weeks until I get my first paycheck and get my finances sorted out...

For what it's worth i did the same set up as tigersharkdude, with the exception of adding, yeah i know your all gonna laugh at me but koozies, you know when you go to your redneck inlaws and they are all drinking Bud Light wrapped in those blue, red things that go around the can and have stupid sayings on them. I figured if it keeps the drink cold, why not for the same for a CAI? Also i cut the bottom of the black plastic under the bumber, on each side and one in the front to make a scoop, i can post pics later if your confoosed.....good luck.

Oh it's all good Steve, I appreciate it i'm just gunna end up going with the bomz as soon as I get the money lol which is sad, I cant afford to spend $30 lmao...At least your door speaker isn't acting wierd anymore as far as I remember that was the problem. Im still jelous of your car lol... after the "true CAI" comes Greddy EU 7300 rpm limit then I might be able to keep up with you, maybe a lil slower cuz of my transmition but I'll be more consistent lol
#35
lol to be honest with you, I'm only drilling a hole a little larger than 3" so I'm not too worried about it, the firewall is the only thing I wont mess with. When i installed my strut bar, there was something in the way that I had to cut off , but it didn't do anything functional...and no it wasn't one of the bolts or something...I'm not that car illiterate...

and I LOVE that Pentium and windows sticker's that made me laugh so hard... at least your intake MAF works better than a windows computer, or we would have to be replacing them all the time...and our cars would "crash" or stall lol and get the blue screen

Yeah, i thought i would be a smarta$$ and put that on there, a dumb neighbor looked in my hood when i was working on it and actually said, you have a Pent 4 computer must be fast......uh, well, um when was the last time they used a Pent 4. i laugh at the ignorant.

That's freaking hillarious...
