Problem while changing spark plugs

Ok here is what happened,. I decided to change my plugs with the iridiums. While doing so, the 2nd coil in the rear ( the center one). While i took the coil out the rubber on the tip didnt come out. So i had to use wd 40 to loosed it up to get it out. then i noticed the plug was wet with wd 40 when i took it out. Now when im driving my car it hesitates a little , and slight misfire. NO cel light. What do i do? Shall i take the plug out and clean it? What do i use?
thanks in advance

im no expert but im pretty sure u dont want to be using WD40 in a place where it can enter the engine. how much of it did u use did u like soak the area with it or just a little?

1. Change that plug. When you put the new one in, it probably get wet and fouled from the excess WD in the cylinder.

2. Make sure that rubber boot is secure to the Ignition Coil

your old plug got some wd40 on it, not the new one right? then it shouldn't miss unless the terminal on the coil has some on. you can use some brake cleaner to get if off. might be that they sold you wrong plugs?

yes there was some wd 40 in that area. Im sure it got on new plug. Will it foul the new plug? Or will it burn off? How do i secure the ruber boot to the coil, it keeps coming off. There is wd 40 all over that area. What do i use to clean it?
thanks

idk if crazy glue will work but you can try that. you say wd40 all over the area meaning in the hole? if so spray brake cleaner in and let it drop into the cylinder - it's combustible so will burn out.
i don't think it should damage the plug, might decrease the conductivity if you let it stay there.

what shall i clean the plug and coil with? brake cleaner?

allensteiner21 10-26-2008 05:26 PM

yep, unless you have a different degreaser that is non corrosive.

I just bought a new plug, and going to use di electric grease on the coil part that goes in the plug. Also can i use brake cleaner.

Yeah, brake cleaner should be fine.

I'd rinse that plug in brake cleaner and dry it with compressed air.

theres some specifically made to clean electronic parts its called Electrci Parts Cleaner use it and let it dry itself u dont want pressurized air to damaged anything sensitive r u should be fine there after good luck

 plugs aren't fragile enough to be damaged by compressed air. good point on the electric parts cleaner though. always thought about getting a can but...brake cleaner is cheaper :D
