Black headlights on ebay.....

Can someone tell me which black headlights on ebay are the better ones....I see a few listings with prices all over the place.

tigersharkdude 11-14-2008 02:00 PM

search r34's in the 4th gen forum
the oem looking AE'd ones I am unsure
just search ebay headlights in the 4th gen forum your answer should be there

ChubbieBoi 11-14-2008 05:42 PM

i recently bought the black headlight with the black clear corner for around $99 + shipping. no problem at all

tigersharkdude 11-14-2008 06:17 PM

all though i have never seen them in person i would recommend the headlights chubbieboi has. R34's suck *** dont get them unless you are gonna do a retro OR dont drive at night

I have the 'AE' style ebay lights and am pleased with them. No issues at all. Plus, they are glass which is much better than plastic IMO.

Personally, I just picked up a 2.50 cent cant of spray paint at wallmart and AE'ed them myself. I have yet to take apart and do the corners though so they match.

I would have done that if I had 97-99 headlights, but since I had the 95/6 lights, I bought new ones.

Beware though, AEing the headlights does slightly cut some of the beam pattern out as a little but of the housing is actually used to project the light.

I had his username on my ebay account, so i just search what he was selling and found it. The output on the head light is not bad at all even with my 6000k hid. The oem headlight have the light guard shild thing but the black headlight doesn't have it.

chillin014 11-15-2008 07:01 AM

glass is heavier :( I wish they had plastic ones. I'll probably get some of those AE ebay ones myself though.

DJ420 11-15-2008 07:21 AM

Now I notice on those ebay headlights, the bulb shield lets light out the front.. how does that affect the beam? I have 99 headlights that I baked open myself.. on top of 'AE'ing them, I also painted the bottom black for a darker appearance when off, and my corners I painted the entire inside black, since I use LEDs to light it..

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...DSC03078-1.jpg

I love the appearance.. although I have been thinking about switching to R34's.. for a projector retro, of course! Think the projector retros look sexier in R34's than OEM style.
Opinions?

Caracicatriz 11-15-2008 07:22 AM

True the glass is heavier, but they look a lot better than plastic.
Besides, Don't be lazy and make them yourself...

DJ420 11-15-2008 07:29 AM

I honestly dont think anyone is gonna notice the 2 lbs difference having the glass ones either! lol

chillin014 11-15-2008 08:02 AM

let me know if you sell yours DJ.

And I'm a big weight-reduction person when its possible. I wont gut my interior, but a couple pounds lost here and there has got the car down below 3000 pounds. Plus thats just more weight on an already highly front heavy car. :-p Just being anal though.

WOW, just remove the front bumper support and that will remove more then enough weight to make up for a set of headlights.
If you were really anal and serious about weight reduction you would gut the interior.
