Break pads ?? and Break job ??
 

Alright I need pads and my rotors are gonna be cut and im doin it myself...(well the pads, im gonna have the rotors cut by someone)
anything I have to especially watch out for or nothing really ??...I have the hayns manual so I will be following that. Really how hard is it to do ??

Another question is about break pads...Im gonna go with the top pad from Rabestoes...anybody try these ?? how are they ??

Brake pads and rotors are cake. Not much too it. They should take you like twenty minutes a pair. that is for the stock ones, you mentioned cutting the rotors though ... are you putting in rotors from a 300zx? If so I am not positive on that but just doing regular replacment rotors is not too tough at all. Follow the manual and after the first one since they are all the same it willl be much easier.

well, Haynes should give you good directions. What you will need is a large C-clamp for the brake pistons in the rear. Also I would get new shims if yours are badly worn. About the pads, I don't know... People have tried many different kinds and varieties. Portfield pads, Axis pads are some good ones, but Nissan brake pads are also great. Many of the aftermarket pads squeal and squak, overheat, cause too much brake dust etc.. I'd go with Nissan pads. But if you do go aftermarket, make sure they are semi-metallic.

how about raybestos ceramic pads?
 

anyone try ceramic pads? also, if you take it to a shop and they put on nissan pads and resurface rotors, is $180 a good deal?

What were you looking for in pads? Ones that do less dust? Ones that brake harder? Anything in particular?

I pu NAPA Ceramix pads (fr and rear) on our 95 GXE. They have about 2k miles on them. No squeals or squeaks and much less visible dust on the wheels. I am very pleased with them.

I've got Performance Friction Carbon Metallic. Very happy with them, $35 at Autozone.

Well Im doin only the front two on one of the weekends coming up and it should be pretty easy...but I dont know .... I just dont understand all the depressing of the piston with the C-clamp and Do most of you guys change the shims ?? ...I have 100K on my car and they probably are worn but I wont be able to tell...I also have to borrow a jack and jack stands from a friend cause sadly I have none...

IM not a good macanic type...will It be easy ??

for the front.. its 2 bolts.. take them off the caliper and then replace the pads.. it takes all of 2 mins.. i used my old shims.. but not knowing what condition yours are in.. i can't tell you..

for the rear.. its 3 bolts.. one of them is the Emergency/parking brake.. so you will have to put the car in gear and then put the emergency/parking brake down..

the caliper piston tool is $80.. you can rent from your local autoparts store.. use this to turn the caliper to get the caliper piston back in.. on both accounts once you have replaced the pads.. you will have to turn the piston back in to get it to fit over the rotor.. when i did mine i used needle nose pliers.. don't do that.. it requires lots of time and energy..

I too, due to lack of money, am about to attempt to put in the break kit from eatricezone.com myself...I am not sure how hard this will be seeing how I havent ever done a brake job before. I am no certified mechanic but im not a moron....will I be able to do this myself? also any tips anyone has on this thank you in advance

We haven't hit anything yet. Seriously, we do not push the car. It is my wife's "daily driver". Probably not much help with this answer.

caliper/piston tool costs $10... its just an attachment to the 1/2 inch socket... you should do the job yourself...

I would like to install stock pads. The cheapest I found front and rear totaling 85 dollars plus shipping. Any advice for a better deal.

After taking the caliper off and getting the rotor cut and new pads...why wont the caliper go on smoothly ?? I dont get it ??

it's the piston
 

the caliper won't go on because the piston need to be compressed for the caliper to go over it. just like when you took the caliper off, you will need to compress the piston. once you get a haynes or chilton's manual all will be clear, you can look at the pictures.
