Help me identify this shifter
This short throw shifter is on my car and it's a PITA to shift in the winter. Can anyone tell me which short throw this is from these pics, is it adjustable?
Thanks. http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/5610/p1ea8.jpg By maximumhp http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/3728/p2oc8.jpg By maximumhp |
I don't think that it is your shifter that is the problem. I think it is your fluid. When is the last time you changed your transmission fluid? Does it get easier when it warms up a little bit? I had the same issue when it got cold with my S13. Now, I know it is not the same car, but I put a SLIGHTLY thinner fluid in there and it got easier. It did not go away 100%, but it helped a lot.

Yeah, you are partly right. I recently acquired the car, so I have no idea what's in there or when it was changed last. On my last Maxima, I had redline in there and it did make a world of difference, but when I changed back to the stock shifter I couldn't believe how much easier the shifting was. So I am planning to take your advice, but I was hoping to attack it from both ends. I know some STS's are adjustable, and backing the short throw off a little might help as well.

Just looking at it, it's not adjustable unless there's an adjustment under the car.
Looks just like stock to me :gotme: |

Looks stock to me as well.

Throw seems way to short to be stock. It's about 2-3 inches less than my 99.

Thanks Crime! Good job on quoting that so I will forever be a tool!! HeHe

I don't have that silver piece holding the ball pivot in place. Is that a 99-only feature? Or is that in fact an aftermarket shift kit?
I think it's a stillen shifter. Dr J |
