wtf, i can't open my trunk
trunk opener fuse is good but can't open the trunk w/ the opener nor the key.
i tried to mess around w/ the silver latch looking thing w/ a broom stick but didn't really help cause i didn't know what i was doing. could the cable snapped? needz some helps |
One time my trunk was stuck because the trunk cable was hung up/stuck on something that was in my trunk...but that was when I had my trunk liners all pulled off.
What I did to fix it was pull my rear seats and metal panel behind them, climbed into the trunk and played with the cable and latch mechanism with some one pulling on the trunk release... but anyway I seriously doubt the cable is snapped |
If the key doesn't work, then it's not the tab.
Did you do anything to the car immediately prior to the trunk not opening? |
You might have flipped the valet lock on the latch before you closed it... You might have top climb in the trunk like previously stated... But try wd40 in the key hole and try the key again??? Dont snap your key!!!!

Maybe a half dozen bolts, a few more. Actually IIRC it's a mix of 10mm head bolts and nuts.

alright, i took everything out today but how do i actually unlock the latch?
i tried flipping the latch up you see in the pic but it doesn't open the trunk. http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...g?t=1242074916 |
On both my '99 maximas, the ignition keys do not open the trunk? what the fuxorz is going on? as far as im concerned, the locks or keys havent been replaced on either car...
|
try to spray penetrating oil in the key hole...
|
mine did the same thing. use little screw driver instead of key. it should open. if not, put down the armrest in the back, go through that way, and with a long bar you can reach the latch to pop it open.
|
While lifting the tab in the trunk have someone push the trunk release button or use the key again after putting the wd-40 in the key hole...

like the latch won't stay up in the open position even when i lift it up. when i push the release button, the latch opens like halfway and then closes again. |
my 96 maxima trunk dose not open, it opens with the key but not with the button? what is the prob
|
Does the button make a click or no? And what key are you using?
If you're using the master key (the black one), the trunk should open no matter what. Then it may be that the trunk is in valet mode, which is supposed to lock the trunk to the valet key and the button, supposedly keeping you safe from evil valets who want to steal your worldly possessions. Valet mode is controlled by the little silver switch by the latch in this picture: If you are using the master key, go ahead and flip this switch, then try again. If you're using the spare/valet key (the silver one) don't do this - you'll lock the trunk to the key, too. |
