Hi
Car purchased Max 97 with 167k miles on the clock,At,clean but unkown maintenance history......(black engine from the inside, saw it during UIM removal for some cause)

I'm about putting seafoam in the cranck case 10 min before an oil change...
1-Can I pour whole 16 fl oz can there ?
2-Add it during engine is running or off ? (is it safe to open the oil cap when the engine is running ? nothing will be damaged ?
3-Is Mobile 1 M1-110 oil filter and Pennzoil 5w 30w is good combination ? (tried previously 1 qt of penzoil and I think it's good oil)
4-Is seafoam good for my crankcase or I will be disappointed ? i.e leaks , O2 sesors go bad , etc etc...

Thanks
Please don't flame me:D

Black...where? The runners in the LIM? That is not indicative of how the wet side of the engine looks.
  1. You could, but why? Overkill. Read the directions...
  2. Nothing will be damaged by removing the cap with the engine running. Off, running, whatever.
  3. Oil is oil. If you want specifics, try posting this in the correct subforum. Search first.
  4. It's not 'bad' (ambiguous term). Nor is it 'good'.

I saw the black engine walls from (I think they're the injectors openings to the engine) ... nothing to say about the blacky tary :D UIM inside

i do this every other oil chance cause i have high miles and use a thicker oil. plus i run longer intervals between changes. you can use the whole can if you like or just put half in the gas tank.
