Debadge trunk yes/no
I have the burgundy/red maxima. Its a 95 that has an okay body and paint. I am wondering about debadging the trunk with this color configuration. My main hesitation is once I do it, I can't go back and I am also concerned that the paint may be a different color. Nothing looks worse than the outline of the lettering on a debadged car where the paint aged differently. I have a NISMO aluminum badge I wanted to put below the trunk's keyhole and debadge the hamburger and the M A X I M A lettering.
Anyone have any thoughts? |
if you can't deal with the consequences don't do it. i.e. polish or repaint
don't let the only nismo item on your car be a badge. |
I would either debadge completely or leave just the Nissan
I say debadge it. I think the "maxima" lettering on 95-96 looks horrible anyways.
^ What he said. I don't like the spacing of the 95-96's either.
debadge. makes it look a lot slicker i think
Just the Nismo badge on the rear? You sure about that?
no badges at all looks the best 99.9% of the time
I agree, I have a 96 and all those badges made the trunk look way too cluttered, In the least debadge the nissan symbol.
I can post a pic if you want to see how mine came out.
I completely disagree with everyone on here. 95-96 4th gens look absolutely FUGLY debadged whether one of the emblems or all are removed. I say avoid the ricer badge (unless you DO have something nismo) and keep the thing stock looking.
97 to 99s can pull a full debadge because their trunks look good regardless but ours should def keep the emblems.. |

Debadging is a must lol
The badges are coming off on their own and the paint looks fresh underneath anyway. Ill probably do it in a few hours. **** it.

Dont do it. I have seen a few Maximas debadged and it looks nasty! it looks like a big plain slab of metal between your tail lights. I dont know why people like it all plain in the back? But thats jus my opinion.
I had mine debadged for a while and people kept calling it a honda
I ended up putting the maxima back on because there was a bit of paint fade and the whole Honda thing was really starting to piss me off. Everytime I took it in to have a quick oil change they would walk to the rear then walk back to the window and ask what model honda it is. So sad... They do look good without the burger. And I would loose the nismo badge even if I had nismo parts. BTW, having a nismo oil cap does not qualify as a nismo part  |
Debadge:p

The trunk looks empty without the lettering. keep it
debadging
I have a 96 gle wondering if I should or shouldn't...problem is that it is that pearl white and the paint will look way diff
looks much better with the lettering on there. if you debadge than shave the keyhole as well. looks better without the key hole.

IMO, the M A X I M A should stay, but the burger should come off. I haven't been able to get mine off :(
I debadged mine. The big problem was the dealer screwed up the initial order back in 95 and put gold emblems (my family member is original owner), then took gold emblems off and put silver. So for some reason, the first 'M' is partially superglued on and that stuff would not come off short of using sand paper which I am not using. I tried googone, 3m adhesive remover and even engine and parts cleaner but the stuff is on there for good. The good thing is its not really noticable unless 1 foot away as its only part of the M and a small part at that, rest of it buffed nicely. I spent about 45 minutes removing the AXIMA and about 1.5 hours on the M that was partially superglued. I am going to remove the front silver hamburger and paint it black then reattach it. Any tips?
i agree with most ppl on here...just loose the burger on the back...the 97-99 can debadge everything because the area between the tail lights is smaller than on 95-96 so it looks better totally shaved on the 97-99 but not as great on the 95-96
everyone has their own taste and in the end its all up to you.. i like my trunk shaved and i wouldn't care what anybody said to me about it..

^ That max is Fiyah.

^^^
What he said, The no M A X I M A & burger..lol, Looks slick as hell IMO. |
Personally, I'm with the crowd that says take of the "MAXIMA" and leave the burger. I think its too plan and baron with nothing back there. And plus, no one ever thinks my car is a Honda.

+ 1 Debadge
http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...831091953c.jpg When I bought mine, the X was broken and and the I was missing, so I had to either debadge it or buy more letters. I now have a black Nissan logo that I am going to swap out on the trunk lid and paint the keyhole black too. |
here's what i did... it's a 98 though, but maybe you'll get some ideas.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y73/R3X/baldtrunk.jpg i debadged and removed the keyhole since it didn't work anyway. i initially planned on replacing the Maxima letters (individual letters) with a new shiny set, but then I really liked the way it looked cleaned up. btw, i was also going to be repainting my trunk, which is why i went ahead and debadged and dekeyholed without worries. after debadging i did have some pretty nasty marks left though, even after a good amount of cleaning and polishing and what not, it was always still noticeable. |
This is the front badge, originally chrome colored, after 1 coat of Rustoleum Painter's Touch Ultra Cover Flat Black http://i29.tinypic.com/2wlznk8.jpg Going to do 1-2 more coats after I sand, then see how the clear coat looks. I will be using a non glossy clear. I just don't want any future chips showing the chrome underneath. I think this color black resembles the black plastic on the grille. My goal is to debadge the front without debadging the front if you know what I mean :)
bad picture but you get the idea: http://i28.tinypic.com/20j5v5s.jpg looks really good actually.
humm i see.. well looks pretty good.. you should take a picture from further out.. i had my front like so for a while then i just took it off.. it was just too much burger for me..

Il take a picture tomorrow outside its hard to see in the garage anyway.
