EVAP Canister Purge VOLUME Control Valve

I got the code a while back (P1445) and reset the computer. It was well over 400 miles when the code came back. After reading up and getting more confused as posters would get the terminology and specific locations confused, I finally found the valve. I took it off, opened it and found crud instead. Not having the tools to test properly, I cleaned it, reinstalled and reset the computer. Just wanted to show you what I found when I opened it. I'll see what happens in a couple hundred miles once the computer relearns.

I would say your light will come back on. From the pictures, that looks like greese. It sounds like you have a bad EVAP canister purge volume control valve.
Time will tell.

^^I think those are the cleaned pictures.

GTFO!!!! I just sold 2 of them on E-bay last week alone, those things always throw codes and sometimes starting issues as well. That's awesome if it works. For a second I thought YOU had the location/description wrong because the big solenoid on the canister (Evap canister vent volume control valve maybe?) seizes up with dirt and can sometimes be freed. But after looking at the pics that's definitly the 6 wire purge control valve.

Both of those pictures are BEFORE cleaning which is why I posted it. I didn't really know what to expect. You can see from my sig how many miles are on the car. This is the first time it's thrown this code since I've owned it. It DID have the EVAP recall issue done on it before I bought the car.

I had code p1447 and I've tried a lot of stuff to clear it. I saw this thread and decided to pull off my purge volume control valve and it and one of the hoses coming off of it was completely packed with charcoal. When I had the evap canister off there was loose charcoal coming out of it but I kind of thought that was normal. How do I clean out the whole system and do I need a new evap canister? Thanks in advance. Also did your SES light ever come back on?

Ok so after some more research I think that my evap canister is cracked internally and leaking charcoal into the system. I'm assuming I need to get a new canister and clean out the hose between the purge volume control valve and the canister. Do I just unhook it hose at both ends and blow it through with an air compressor? Also does anyone have a cali spec canister they are trying to sell? I can't post in the classifieds yet because I'm a newbie here. Thanks

Would this problem have anything to do with the car losing fuel pressure when it sits overnight?
