Toss'in the Bose and I need some help
The Bose cd player took a poop and I want to replace it with a Pioneer that I have sitting around.
Now, I am aware I need to buy the module or what crutchfield is calling a Amplifier Integration v.4 + Nissan Wire Harness . Also by installing the Pioneer, does anyone here have any experience on how the speakers would sound with the bose speakers to an aftermarket deck? Also..... anywhere on here can show instructions on how to remove the factory Bose unit? Thanks all |
I use to Metra wiring harness like people on the org said but for some reason my after market deck does sound as loud as my bose did. But keep in mind it was a quick fix and a cheap cd player. You want the metra harness with rca cables . I cant remember the number. Im sure someone will post what it is. There is a write up on here about it , ill search for ya and see if i can find it. Its pretty much self explanitory on how to replace the cd player once you get the climate contol out of the way. Just be easy cause the air vent will break if your to rough with it. Once you get that out of the way there are two phillips head screws at the top and two at the bottom. ONe is behind the ashtray which youll have to remove. the whole thing will come out radio , pouch pocket , etc.(make sure to unplug all the wires) Once you have the cage out flip it over and youll see the screws on the side to remove your bose. I think they are also phillips head. When you put your after market head unit in you may have to do a little trimming on the opening. I had to but then again your head unit may be different. Sorry if this doesnt help , Its all i could think off of the top of my head. Good luck and keep us posted !
***The wiring harness should be color coded or at least labeled. If you use the metra w/ rca you will not have to use the speaker wires on the radio . Just the inputs. (rca jacks) . I think the only wires youll have to hook up are the power intenna which should be blue w/ white stripes on the wire ( i think check your cd player for specifics) Blue wire which is amp turn on (remote) Red -power , yellow -acc power , And ground wire or wires.Im not 100% sure but i think the orange wire is for illumination. There should be a wiring diagram on you cd player somewhere. You will need the metra intenna adaptor also cause our maxima one will not plug into an aftermarket radio. It think thats it, but you get the just of it , Good luck !!! |
it will sound wayyy better with the new radio, bose still sucks but honestly itl be MUCH better than the bose radio
|
I replaced my erratic Bose deck with a Pioneer AVH4000dvd w/ metra basic wiring harness and antenna input adapter . I kept the oem bose 6 speaker system and it sounds way better than the factory headunit. :)
ebay is a good place to find harness for around $8.to 10 antenna adapter was around $6 Radio removal :: http://www.shareamemory.com/radio/maxima96/ PS. If you decide to install yourself, just as ugafanz stated above, Be GENTLE with center dash vent. The lock tabs are pretty stiff and if you pry to hard upward you will distort surounding dash. |
The link dehsah posted will make what I said earlier make sense , lmaoo ! Oh and heres another link that may help ya out a little with the wiring harness !
Goodluck with the install ! http://forums.maxima.org/audio-elect...nt-thread.html |

Thanks a bunch and since I have not be active (I personally don't drive the maxima (wife does) so I don't focus on it as much as I did back in 2002 when I owned one. Great GEN on these max's and this is our 3rd max from the 4th gen. As you know, I never installed a hu on any of them ;) ugafanz - Thanks for the tips also and I will look out on the vents. Notice your in DeRidder, we have family out in Leesville / Ft. Polk. Cool little place to hang out and chill for sure. :) |
Jus make sure to get a radio with 4 rca pre-amp outputs. 2 for the front and 2 for the rear. Sony has 4 and alpines might too.
Then get the Metra harness with the the RCA cable attachments. |
if your wanting it to sound good; make sure you get a HU with a good voltagefor the Low Level Outputs.. otherwise look up the Audiopipe SPLIT-3003 on ebay.. worth every penny.

The non-bose speakers are amplified at the HU, where as the Bose are amplified at the Speakers, also the non-bose are like 4 ohm, where the bose are 1 ohm.

I replaced my factoy bose (clarion) pos head unit sound great way better then stock.. I was able to get my interface of ebay for for 12$ new shipped no BS..here is a link for one cost more but still better then crutchfield http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-PAC-NISSAN-P...df03a094..Plus with the pac you dont need a wire harness..the interface comes with it..simply plug the factory harness in to the PAC interface then wire your new radio to the PAC connect the amp signal wire to your new radio adjust the outputs on the PAC thats it.. OH you will need a antenna adapter and dash kit..becare full when you pull the ac vents out as to not break them..come to the WOODLANDS TX il do it in 30mins

I think the stock basic system for the maxima is a decent start but you will want more after a short time. I replaced mine with a sony deck and pioneer speakers all around. Big step up from the basic system. As for the bose speakers being the same as the regular speakers i dont know. I think nissan just put little amps on the back of each one to kick in more power and 2 tweeters in the front for a little more clarity. If someone here knows more about Bose vs Basic speakers feel free to chime in. |
bose speakers
I was reading the op's post and am have a similar question. I am planning on replacing my stock headunit and speakers tomm. I have a 95 maxima se, with the bose cd deck and speakers.
the head unit im getting is the pioneer p3100, http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Pioneer+...&skuId=9197068 im not sure on speakers yet but they"ll be the factory size 6" 1/2 i know i gotta get the wiring harness but im confused as to which to get, since some people are replacing there hu and using the bose speakers, i wanna get rid of the hu and the speakers/amps some people tell me u gotta replace the speaker wire, some say u dont.....im confused i took one of the rear speakers out today, and assume the rest are the same, when i disconnect the amp from the speaker i have 1 set of wires coming from the car with a plug that would go into the amp, the colors are 2 greens,2 reds and a black i beleive. on the old amp these wires are converted in the plug and 2 wires come out to go to the speaker, i assume a + and a -? if i drop new speakers in how do i connect the existing wire to the speaker? sorry for the long rant matt |
