Check engine light won't stay off!!
 

Help! I have a check engine light problem that keeps coming back. I have a '96 GXE. So far the dealer has not been able to solve the problem. So far, over five visits, they have replaced in this order -- the air intake sensor, EGR solenoid, back pressurevalve, and lastly the EGR valve. Each time the check light stayed off for a few days them came back on. The last time the dealer kept the car for a week of testing and the chief mechanic took it home overnight to be try and be sure they were fixing the right thing. Then it came back on!!! They are as frustrated as I am. ANY ideas??

get the codes yourself, and then tell them what to do. how many miles on the car? Maybe O2 sensors :confused:

It came on the first time just before I brought it in for the 60K service. That was the first time they didn't fix it.

Do like ZXdude said and read off the codes yourself and go from there. Maybe your dealership is merely resetting the MIL and not really replacing the parts? :eek: Or maybe they are replacing the wrong parts.
