ey guys I got some knew wheels and its 18x8 - 225/45-18 (front) and 18x8 - 245/45-18 (rear) staggered. The rears are rubbing when im going over bumps. Im dropped on progress springs with illuminas which is supposed to be 1.8fr and 1.6rear and i set struts/shocks to 2 and 2, would it help if i stiffen the back to 4?
Thanks and here are the pics fresh after install :

you should of gone with a 40 series instead of 45, it rubbing because the rear tires are wide and kinda tall. maybe if your roll the wheel wells it'll stop most of the rubbing.

why would you put wider tires on the rear if 1) your not rwd and 2) all 4 wheels are the same width?

the only reason i got wider cuz thats how i bought them lol.

Don't suppose you know the offest? Read up on rolling your rear fenders. There is an extra 15mm or so to be had by rolling or cutting.

*edit* To answer your question about the rear dampers, no.

offset is +35mm i believe 5x114.3

Those are some fat *** tires. Looks good though.

Right. I think the problem lies in your tire width to rim width ratio and that produces a bit of a puffy sidewall. I'm running a 245/40 (stock G coupe rear sizing) that is just about square with an 8.5 inch rim with a +33 offset. From the looks of it you really don't needs to trim/roll much. If you have the equipment I would suggest raising the rear of the car and A.) compressing one side of the rear suspension or B.) remove the springs and raise the beam with the jack (while the car rests on jackstands) to make the tire contact the fender and note which area needs to be addressed.

Is it the same on both sides? Many lowered Maximas show minor differences in clearance from side to side because of our rear beam. I would just heat the paint and bang the lip up a tad but don't listen to me, do YOUR research.

+1 Figure out where it's making contact, heat up the fender a little and, with the wheel removed, gently bend the inner lip by hitting it gently with a ball peen hammer at the top of the inside of the lip, use common sense, the metal bends easily, just don't 'fold' it too far back so it cracks.

roll the fenders..or just ride 235/40/18 all round.

take off your tires and look in the wells for witness marks, thats where u need to change the depth of the fenders. if its the rim on the outside u could bend in the inside of the well and make the quarter pannel thin. hard to explain but simple if u can figure it out.

nah i get it. i have to find out where the problem is coming from so yea tmrw i have to go get a proper alignment done so ill ask them when they take of wheel to check the tire to see if there is marks from the rub. it only happens on like big dips or very harsh bumps.

4thGeN 04-15-2010 05:01 PM

yea there will be marks
good luck bro

so i got my alignment fixed today and got the mechanic to check where the rubbing is happening and he said he thinks its the driver side outside and he said its not causing any damage to the tires so i think in a couple of weeks when i get my car painted and rust work done i will ask the body shop to roll up the fenders?

Those look good, but the rear tires are pretty meaty. That's why you're rubbing.

dkillahster 04-16-2010 11:35 PM

is that rust? x_X
