Pic of Blue Needles and Blue A/C lights

Well, finally, I got a picture of my blue intelliglo needles and my blue LED A/C lights. Hope you like them. Note: the gauges are superwhite, but the camera did not take a good picture.

My Alpine head unit is a CDA-7863. I am getting the CDA-7864 face plate that has all blue buttons, so where mine are green, this is blue. It will look good then.

I took apart the stock A/C module and where there were green and orange LEDs, I put in 5mm super blue LEDs. Then I have to bore out the opening in the A/C module so the bigger LEDs can fit in there. The whole project cost me 30 something dollars. Only had to pay for the LEDs.

I have been meaning to find a head unit that sits flush against the dash. I have seen alpines in this manner, i was wondering if you have any pics of the interior during the day? Or maybe you can tell me how flush it is. By flush i mean it does not protrude from the dash like a stick head unit would.

Oooo pretty colors...

I like it alot man, looks sweet! And the needles match the A/C controls so well. Doesn't matter if the head unit doesn't match, it stands out more (which it should). Anyways it looks nice man, mod away!

I always wanted to have blue glowing gauges, but i thought it was too dam hard to get behind the dash. I always think that if i take it apart ill end up breaking something. I dont care about the A/c or anything the the needles. So could you give me some directions on how to take this apart. And the needles have a seperate bulb?

Please wear your seat belt next time you take the picture. You know what....., how about modding those indicators to blue also.

---Officer: You were pulled over for not wearing your seat belt.

---You: I'm sorry officer, but I don't wear my seatbelt anymore so I can show off my blue "seatbelt" indicator. Doesn't it look nice?

---Officer: Yes it does! Nice mod and have a nice day!

Nice work Ramius! I too have the blue needles. I've swapped the green window unit LEDs with blues LEDs to match the needles--they look sweet and match perfectly. Toolrocks and I have been trying to figure out how to swap the AC unit, but with no luck. do you have the analog or digital climate controls?? Toolrocks and i have the digital climate controls so it's not a direct led swap since we have bulbs (not leds) in the digital climate control.

good work man!

for those with questions on the needles do a search in the 4th gen forum--there have been lots of posts about these needles. or you can check out importintelligence

last, to take better pics of your dash, use the MACRO feature on your digi cam. this feature should improve the clarity of your close up shots.

for the window unit leds, i went to http://www.hosfelt.com/Leds/led1.htm i went with the 250 mcd leds for $.99. in a word, nice!

No. What you have to do is when you take off the old gauge faces, you have to look around the area on the gauge plastic. There is a little bump on the plastic that surrounds the needle post. You have to carefully sand that down smooth so it is the same height as the rest of the gauge plastic. Then put on the LEDs and you are done. I think the other people did not do this.

I bought the bulbs from a store in Norcross, Georgia called Radioshack.com. They are a division of RadioShack, but carry a different part catalog. Call 411 and get their number.

As far as the bulbs in a 99', if you have manual A/C and you push a button and the light under it is green/orange, then it is a LED. It can be changed out.

Wow, this was a long time ago. At the time, I put ACTUAL blue LED bulbs in behind the A/C butttons, which I still have now. I also now have the same needles, but with the reverse indiglo gauges to match up perfectly.....
