bkortee May 23, 2010 07:48 PM

I like it. I wish someone would retro my r34's. I have an hid kit on them but the output isnt very good.

ColombianMax May 23, 2010 08:24 PM

Looking good, what projectors are those? looks like you have the 95-96 lens... is it?

Shift_Nismo May 23, 2010 09:13 PM

No those are 97-99's. The retro's look good!

ChrisMan287 May 23, 2010 09:20 PM

Retro looks pretty sweet.

nismomaxgtr18 May 23, 2010 09:23 PM

Looks amazing! Can't wait to see the cutoff pics! Also would like to know what projectors those are.

ColombianMax May 23, 2010 09:37 PM

trying to figure out why there's blue tape in there.. was it to paint em or something?

he did'nt want to scratch inside the lens why he was fitting the projectors. they are for my 95, nsx projectors, gonna have 4500 hid white in them.

mista0406 May 23, 2010 10:56 PM

retros came out great

Double00V May 23, 2010 11:18 PM

i don't know if i missed the thread or not but what is retrofitting exactly

It is taking the projectors or reflectors of vehicles that have already have been tested and are approved to use hid lights and putting them into the headlights of cars that aren't.

If you use the cheap drop-in hid bulbs into stock housings that are designed for halogen bulbs, you will blind the **** out of other drivers and may even reduce the light output of your vehicle in some cases.

Using projectors off of vehicles that are designed to use hids reduce the nasty glare, increase the usable light output and GREATLY reduce the risk of getting pulled over. If done correctly, a cop will not know that you have illegal lights as you aren't blinding drivers.

lol, gotta love teh new guys. its when you remove the original halogens and put in a projector/hid set up so you can have a much brighter more focused beam of light. like this.....http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...2/IMG_2638.jpg

jcruzer4thGen May 24, 2010 12:59 AM

I have HID's for my headlights(6k), and just bought some for my fogs(3k). I gotta admit, the retrofit is bad*ss! It just seems like too much $$$ and so much to do to do myself. The light output is scattered and my fogs seem brighter than my headlights. It's like i have spotlights pointing to my left and right...is there a more cost efficient way of doing all this guys? Thnx in advance!

cashoit May 24, 2010 07:43 AM

Nice MAX Ride! We vets gotta show the Noobs how to do things the right way lol.

As u kno...post pics when u done. hoo-rah!!!

ill be honest, they are'nt all that expensive. i think with the shrouds, hids, bezel, and light it was like 300-350.00 plus the time to put them together. cheaper than a set of wheels.....:wall:

ColombianMax May 24, 2010 09:16 AM

6k is not the same as 6000k and neither is 3k the same as 3000k. K is for Kalvin not Thousands

ajcool2 May 24, 2010 12:30 PM

NICE. Ive been thinking about attempting a retro for me and my girl's R34's. I need to find a good write up and try it on some extra housings I have sitting around.

FCPImport May 24, 2010 01:59 PM

Nice clean install on those lights dude.

LOL

I love my bi-xenon retro. Call me an a-hole but if some behind me blinds me with POS drop-ins. I usually get behind them with my highs on. Now that is bright. I can see their eyes even through a tint LOL.

OMG YES! Me too! I usually sure to keep just the proper distance behind em where I see the light reflecting off their mirror onto their face! This also applies with people driving with high beams.

nalc May 24, 2010 06:57 PM

RS6 projectors, Eagle Eyes 97-99 housings, theretrofitsource.com Extended E46R shrouds. Will post some more pics tonight.

JAMAICANLOVRBOY May 24, 2010 07:17 PM

its funny that for a car that gets modified so much (4th gen maxima), projector lights are still not available on ebay, people have to make them.

max ride 41 May 24, 2010 07:55 PM

they really seem to not want to do any updated modified parts for our car, period. except the stupid headlights and taillights, and indiglo gauges...

Rods03Max619 May 24, 2010 08:12 PM

Looks good and damn a big difference!

abhirud07 May 24, 2010 08:57 PM

...sooo are those bi-xenon? I'm regretting putting in MDX halogen projectors in my retro. I wish I went down the FX-R/Morimoto route to begin with. I think it's def worth it. I am not too happy with my current light output lol. maybe I shouldn't be putting all the blame on them. cheapo China made HID kits/bulbs aren't probably helping either...

my camera is broken for the time being but I'll post up a pic of the actual light output on the road so you guys can see the beam width and projection down a dark road...it's ehhhh lol

[QUOTE=abhirud07;7573638]...sooo are those bi-xenon?

no, d2s hids, not bi-xenon's. 4500's, like off white bulbs. got the hid kit from ddm tuning. this is the kit...http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w.../hidraptor.jpg

maxgtr2000 May 24, 2010 10:36 PM

Looking good. E46 bezels are my favorite for using on bixenon projectors. To the post about the mdx projectors you can convert them to use a d2s bulb, it may help the input instead of using the aftermarket hid bulb kit

Nismo95Max May 25, 2010 12:19 AM

hey max41, did you use the headlights that were on your car for this setup? or did you purchase a whole new setup?

sorry lol I meant to ask if the projectors themselves had hi-beam capability...you know with the hi/low solenoids and mechanical cutoff shield

nalc May 25, 2010 04:04 PM

Yup, bi-xenon projectors. RS6, which are just like E55s except with better chrome and a foreground limiter.

FuriousAO May 25, 2010 06:32 PM

looks nice Good job

abhirud07 May 25, 2010 08:58 PM

damnn. looks like gotta upgrade! enjoy them. people will give you some crazy looks. I love driving with them on during a cloudy day...they just look so nice when it's like that for some reason. fyi I'm running 6000k bulbs now. my original 4300k's burned out. I ordered replacement bulbs but they sent me 6000k. gotta tell ya, I 'm liking them a lot more than the 4300k's.

Nismo95Max May 25, 2010 11:46 PM

Hey max 41, I am interested in buying your old headlights. I am located in phoenixville! If your not selling then thats fine, but I will pay top dollar if you are! let me know man.

El_BoriMax May 26, 2010 10:04 AM

Good job! Clean job and smart with the blue tape.
