ok, I saw the "paintscratch.com" post and thought of the idea to put it on my Altezza that i JUST ordered from Greg.

Now.. I saw Paintscratch.com and looks like those will work perfect on the lights.
I am putting the paint on all the clear parts and leaving just the two circles.

Where are the turn signals?
What thehell is that little circle next to the Big one?
is that required?

if I do cover it up, which part should i cover?
can anyone photoshop it?

I think vinyl will make a big diff in the color since it doesn't come with PEARL WHITE
so I thought of this idea

I have a black max and the Altezza's look nice. I like the chrome, it matches my chrome maxima lettering and trim.

Altezza's + Black Maxima = :cool:

i don't want to plug them in because I am going to paint them before I install

I small little circle is the side marker light. You don't need it...you dont need the altezzas either for that matter.:bonk:

the little wire is for your side marker lights, but id reccomend re-wiring them to act as your blinkers, cause you will never see the blinker goin off in that huge red dot, let alone with the parking lights on.

BTW: your painting the inside of the tails or the outside??

I dont really care much altezza's to begin with, but i know in the future i want an is300. Similar lights. What i had planned to do was buy some KRYLON GLASS PAINT, in red and paint over it. This stuff is great becasue it is removeable and it still gives you that circualar rear light look i assume you looking for. The can is cheap about $3-4, cheaper than the vinyal. Maybe give that a try first before the vinyal, which i think would not look all that great. Hope it turns out great whichever way.

I'm still in debates about getting them or not. I won't get them for sure if it's chrome,even if I do have a black car. BUt I was wondering how hard it is to get them open? So that you can paint the inside. Actually I know they the black alteeza's for 95-96. Are they out for 97-99 yet?

hey... this is my idea i am gonna do this when i get my stillen body kit painted i'll just have the guy paint my altezzas too. I think it will look really good.

Sounds like he's trying to make his Maxima look like a Skyline...this has been done before, and I've seen pics on this forum of it. It was a white Maxima with white vinyl covering the Altezza chrome.

Do a search on it, and you should find it.

Acutally I've seen that maxima, the white one up on here before. But he got a custom job done, and got his back end moded I read. That's why I was wondering if it is easy to open the alteezza's, that would be a cheaper solution to achieving that look.

Must be another Maxima...the guy I saw only used vinyl over the Altezzas.....It looked pretty smooth in the picture I saw from about 15 feet away...no idea how it looks close up.

First, I'm not sure what you mean by 'paintscratch.com post'. What do you mean? But to answer your questions:

The outer most little hole is for the red bulb that comes on only with the parking lights/headlights, the outer big circle acts as a brake lights and blinker, the inner big circle acts as a brake light with the clear half acting as your reverse light. If you have any more questions feel free to e-mail me.

Although the lame chrome looks o.k. on a light car, I too plan on painting my chrome body color this winter break.

Ask Shumax for instructions, he took them apart and back together fine.

white max with vinyl? :confused: mines black and i havent seen any other pics on here with vinyl over the outside

How were you able to do this?
1) Did you open the Altezza's up and paint the chrome parts? or...
2) Put a vinyl sticker on the outside?

Yes, it WOOD look great. If you COOD do it, your SHOOD do it.

What does that look like up close, and also from the side? can you see the chrome on the inside if you look at it from the side up close? other than that it looks great

people keep saying it's difficult to put them back together after you take them apart...

sexima's altezzas havent arrived, hey anybody remember that guy that had skyline/altezza type lights? it was white, looked like joes, but he put leds as the taillights, and the white was plastic not a sticker, now those were pimp

I remember that, I beleive I still have the pictures in the old 'Maxima' folder under 'My Pictures'. :)

He had no reverse lights though.

ive seen it done similarly before. Go to maximadriver.com... then click on 2DMAX... scroll down a bit and click on August 2K1 max of the month. His is yellow, but i think thats the idea you are talking about.
