MEVI v.s. 00VI

Ok, I have been doing some searching, but am having trouble finding a legit comparison of the middle eastern intake compared to the 2000-2001 intakes. If anyone could link me to a forum showing HP gains of each, or some dyno charts comparing each I would be very grateful. I know that my stock 98 has 190hp, and 2000's have stock 222hp... So the 00vi install will give you about 32 more hp. But I can't seem to find anything saying how much hp you would get from installing a MEVI onto a 3.0 98'. Or just how much stock hp the middle eastern 3.0 maxi's have.

Thanks!

MEVIs are easier to install, but give u less HP gains. I also hear they alter yur powerband causing low-end torque to go down.

The 2001 has an arguably better engine, using its DEK. The mods on the DEK are also more powerful. The only GOOD comparison would be a 95-98 models with the same mods done to the car.

Its not the best comparison, but it shows the differences between the two manifolds at 200 peak hp. Most of the improvements in the DEK are in the intake manifold. Though IIRC, cams are slightly more aggressive in the DE.

Here is the dyno I was originally searching for.

The exhaust cams on the DEK are different. Most of the power is from the intake manifold though. This is beat to death in the all motor section.

The DEK manifold is the best FWD manifold to arrive since the new (L32) Altima manifold. Take it from me, I have a MEVI on my 4th gen.

Wow thanks guys, thats a great help. Nice dyno chart too schmelly! I was about to jump on a MEVI for just the ease of the install... but now I'm definitely going for the 00vi.
Thanks all!

Thats what I thot, o, ill just go 00vi, its not as easy as it looks................. so I went with MEVI, with NWP spacers FTW.

schmellyfart 07-20-2010 06:16 PM

The 00vi isn't that bad if you know what you're doing. IMO the hardest part was figuring out all of the vacuum lines. I can't speak for the MEVI, though.

cartman854 07-20-2010 09:26 PM

Not to mention most of the kits were sais to be complete but missing things like tb iacv lines or egr stuff. Mevi was just direct swapin. More power than 00vi if u do spacers at the same time.

schmellyfart 07-20-2010 10:25 PM

I agree, incomplete kits are a pain.

Though, why are you comparing MEVI w/ spacers to 00VI w/o spacers? You said it yourself, the only good comparison would be with the same mods..

00VI > MEVI all day.

/thread.

Ease of installation. At least this ccomparisonis two upgrades vs too different generation maximas.
