has anyone with a 99 had hid fog light fitment issues?

sup org,

i bought a set of hid fog lights and it seems that there is a light beam focus thing or something of the sort. its a piece of metal that is in the way of the hid bulb is there any way to bypass this? im also having trouble with the black plastic cap that screws on to the back of the fog light housing with the new wire installed i cannot screw it back on. i thought of drilling a hole in it. any help on this matter would be much appreciated. im stuck i have the bulbs in the housings but im afraid to drive it without the cap on.

thanks in advance org:D

The glare shield can be bent out of the way some. Just stick a screwdriver in there and push it. If theyre aftermarket fogs they might be able to be baked and taken apart. (I was able to do his to remove the glare shields.)
As for the cap...you'll have to drill a 1" hole in the cap and use the rubber grommet that the HID bulb wires go through to seal the hole. You shouldnt need any silicone either, its a snug fit.

i broke the top of the glare shield and bent it to the side. i got the bulbs to fit. but wont that reduce the beam output? as for the hole i will try that on monday its really cold and snowy over here so outside jobs are completely out of the question. should i be worried driving around without that secure until then?

I drilled a hole thru it.

I used H3C bulbs instead of H3s, they fit in there perfectly. For the cap, I just duct tape the cover and zip tied the cap to the ballast. I haven't had any issues in the ~5 months since I've installed the HID kit.

my hid fogs fit w.o fitment issues, purchased from hidextra, a vendor on here. however since our fogs are not a projector, the output sucks anyways. i mean they are better than the factory halogens, but still not worth it. basically just for cosmetics.

there must be some way to adjust the beams though, right? mine just kinda point directly at the ground in front of the bumper. it seems as if my halogens were brighter. but man do they look cool

There's a nut on the back I believe to aim them but you guys should go with H3C's > H3's when it comes to HIDs. They're fit is perfect and the arc is properly aligned like the stock bulbs.
