Ebay Bumper Signal Lights

I forgot how I found these, but I came across them. I've been looking for some that weren't the ugly orange color, and these were cheap so I figured what the heck. What do you guys think?

I decided I'd do a little write up for it too, because they can be kind of confusing.

First off, get a flat head screwdriver, and pop off the piece closet to the front doors, or closest to the rear of the vehicle.

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...3/SAM_0166.jpg

From there it just pulls right out. then unscrew the other light, and it comes out. The whole light assembly that holds the light just twists like 45 degrees and comes out as well. For me, I had white lights in both, I went to the local autozone and bought orange ones.

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...3/SAM_0167.jpg

This is the most difficult part, There is a pointy-like thing in the OEM one that holds the piece in firmly. We need to take that out and put it in the new one. What I did was got a 10mm socket and unscrewed it. After I went to screw it in the new one, it wasn't threaded! So I just grabbed my socket and wrench and pushed rather hard to get it in there, while screwing so it threads it. Now you're done screwing around.

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...3/SAM_0168.jpg

I also left mine sticking out a little extra for an easier fit.

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...3/SAM_0169.jpg

Now you're ready to put them in! They will snap twice when you put them in. the first one will be a somewhat tight fit, but can still be taken out with just your fingers.

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...3/SAM_0170.jpg
(from above)
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...3/SAM_0171.jpg

The second snap will be the snap of happiness because it's in all the way.

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...3/SAM_0172.jpg
(from above)
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...3/SAM_0173.jpg

You're done!

nice work dude

JSutter 01-15-2011 10:14 AM

Im actually surprised at the quality or lack there of. 10 years ago these things were exact copies of the original lights but clear. This looks slimmed down with less plastic on the back, ie cheaper. Everything was included too, screws and clips for the bumper, colored bulbs, the ball and socket pieces, even the vent thing was on there. Now it seems as if they did the bare minimum and skimped on the extra parts. Is that true? All thats in the box is the lenses?

ya know??? wtf??? is this thread not been covered like 85 kazillion times???!!!!! and, i hate to burst anyone's bubble, but the aftermarket corners dont always sit " nice and flush" like the dude in the above pics, nor do they " snap into place" like that either. i had to glue the passenger side one's in cause they would'nt snap into place. i've done clears, and black like 2 pairs of each.

Yes, all that is in the box is the clear lenses on the black housing. The vent is also on these.

I may not have been on the site very long, I've had my max for 3 years and just stumbled across the org. I am aware that the 'search' function on this website is taken very seriously. I did search, and did not see any threads with these lenses in them. I apologize that the aftermarket lenses you have dealt with haven't been exactly everything you thought they would. No, these do not sit perfectly in place, and it's noticable if you look in the pics. But for aftermarket, and only $27 shipped, I'm kinda surprised how near perfect they fit. btw, yes, they did snap into place. and I apologize that you had to use glue. IMHO, I would've stuck to amber before I glued a lense on to my car that I would have to spend half an hour trying to get back off.

I don't mean to come across as a jerk. I'm just saying.

StartaFire89 01-16-2011 08:56 PM

wow, that how-to with photos made it look so easy. I know I would be bound to mess something up, though.

it looks like these come with that little pointy thing from what my eyes are telling me from looking at the picture. they also come with the bulbs.

Those are nice. and almost exact replicas, if not perfect, of OEM. I would get those. but I prefer the blacked out look more. ;)

not at all, i had the bumper replaced and the aftermaket cover is probably why mine arent snapping into place. plus, i've had the bumper hit since, so i think thats why i glued em on the passenger side to sit in all the way. the first set of clears i got on the original bumper sat in pretty good, but still were crooked and not flush.

luckily, they sell both! you just have to go through the seller's store. I'm thinking of the white ones for myself.

That explains a whole lot. lol I know my friend has a prelude, and he accidently hit a pole when he was trying to park, when he first got it, and it was about 2 mph. his bumper doesn't sit right anymore. mine are a little crooked. but look decent for $17.

Mistertones 01-21-2011 12:13 PM

haha funny this thread came up, I installed my clear ones like 2 years ago. Maybe 2 weeks ago, one popped off on the highway fml
