DoughBoy's Sub Frame Collars Review
I've read numerous reviews about the sub frame collars for our cars and was somewhat intrigued but skeptical as well so I held off on going for them right away.
Anyways, during a text conversation with Andy (a well known Maxima Mechanic here in SoCal), he brings up the subframe collars and offered to install them for me. Ive been bit by the mod bug lately and figured one more itch wouldnt hurt to scratch so we set up a day to handle it. Once there, I asked him what type of improvement these would offer and he gave me one of those "You need to find out for yourself" type responses . Install was pretty quick with only a few tools. Upon first drive, DAYUM!! These made the front feel WAY more solid going over bumps and uneven roads. The ride became much smoother and firmer at the same time. Andy DID say that the car would feel like its riding on stock wheels again. I couldnt agree with that anymore!! In conclusion, Sub Frame Collars are a GREAT mod and well worth it. Also, I figured Id list my suspension setup to better your idea of my point of view. - 18" ASA JH9 235/40 rubber - Boss Chen/Daiyama Coilovers (Dampening: Front - 3 clicks out from stiff, Rear - 5 clicks out from stiff) <slammed> - Front Strut Bar - Addco RSB To order a set, contact "speedymax99". Thanks for reading. DB |
I'll be ordering mine soon after I finish a few more things. Thanks for the review bro.

Actually, it's an un-bolt, install, then re-install bolt mod. Pretty easy to do. I've been meaning to post my great review as well.
Thanks for sharing OP. |

I/H/E. TRUE boltons being STB's and RSB's. And you're welcome. Yes, Definitely Post a review up as well when you get a chance. |

How much do they run? Might be needing a set if I find an i30/max in my price range I'm all for better handling
I will be getting some of these after i purchase my coilovers I hate the way my car drives as of now
Youll love em.
I need to have mine installed lol, they have been sitting in my house for like a year
Theyre not hard to install at all. Can be done with a jack and a set of jackstands along with some hand tools. Some bolts may be hard to remove but its nothing PB blaster and a breaker bar cant get through.
These are MUST HAVES! Get em while theyre hot!!
Every Max needs one of these. These do as good as a job as a LTB!
Support a great part for our cars and get yourselves a set!!
lol.. are you collecting commision off this?
I have a set for almost a year.. Im gonna throw them on this week too.. lol. Finally got some warm weahter and did the Alum. steering bushing. this should complement it. |
I had a feeling someone would say it :chuckle:. No commission, but I know the people who make these parts and these guys are constantly working to develop new parts for our cars.
Just my way of continual support so they keep on going!! Get em in. You wont be disappointed. |

Where did you guys order these from, and how do you install them?
The guy a few posts above said it right. local forum member makes them, and other parts. Great quality. it removes that little play/squishyness in the steering reaction by replace the rubber piece with all alum. piece. It is installed in between the lower steering column linkage and the steering rack(from the inside the car) install takes a few hours to do it right and not gheto. But it is worth it in my opinion. I am doing these upgrades piece by piece to see the improvement. The bushing really made a dif. in steering response and feel. I like it very much. I hope to do a LTBII with subframe collars and poly bushings in the front to really bring the front back to that "new car" feel. |

Okay, so I ordered the subframe collars for my Max, sent money by paypal, and now the seller won't answer any of my pm's or e-mails. Anyone else run into this? Oh, and my order went from 'pending' to 'on hold'.

OK.. thanx for the reply. I'll try to be patient. Just excited to get them in.
Ok, it's been over 2 months since I ordered my subframe collars from Andy, and he hasn't sent my parts, and he continues to ignore my PM's and e-mails. I think I've been plenty patient. Anybody know what's going on????
Ill get in contact with him and let you know.
Contacted and he said parts are in stock again and pending shipment upon packaging.
I hope the same goes for me (that the parts are in stock and being sent out). I ordered my set 2 weeks ago.
