HID's Or Projectors?

-->NEW PICS AT THE BOTTOM<--

Just purchased a set of R34's. Took them apart to clean and restore the lens.

So now that they are apart i can take atvatage of a retro via my buddy or Put them back together and get a HID set from a buddy..

Projectors are coming out of these headlights...they also have the halo's

both

96customax Apr 11, 2011 06:47 AM

Haha wouldnt that be almost blinding? Also the down side with the HID's is the cost to replace bulbs..

VQ30MPG Apr 11, 2011 07:09 AM

HID bulbs rarely burn out. They'll be blinding (glare) without projectors. IMO they're annoying and too bright either way, though. I'd go with halogen projectors, personally. Whatever you do, don't put HIDs in reflector housings.

HID projectors

ChrisMan287 Apr 11, 2011 07:58 AM

Any projectors will be better than those R34 reflectors so definitely do a retro if you can. Also, whether you get HID or halogen projectors use HIDs. They won't be blinding at all, that's what the cutoff shield is for.

Redline Maxima Apr 11, 2011 08:34 AM

Definitely u need both in r34s

mdliber Apr 11, 2011 08:38 AM

It will be less blinding than just h.I.d.s

kiecas17 Apr 14, 2011 07:53 PM

Man everyone is against hids in stock housing.

You've never had someone oncoming with hids in stock housings?

Near death experiences...

VQ'rInWLA Apr 14, 2011 08:35 PM

As most have stated above, do BOTH!!! :king: I have HID projectors and I couldnt be happier!! :jump:

Brandon8965 Apr 14, 2011 10:52 PM

HID projectors FTW.. i'm starting mine this weekend with the j30 projectors in r34 housing.. with 35w hid's

ezkill89 Apr 14, 2011 11:55 PM

I Have HID's now and i am dying to get the Projectors because if its brightness you want you can always get HID Fog Lights

VisciousMo Apr 15, 2011 01:15 AM

If you have the $$$ and time, HID+retrofit. If you don't and want to peak your interest and get marginally better lighting. Buy aftermarket halogens (PIAA, Hella, Nokoya).

Retrofit projectors

96customax Apr 15, 2011 04:31 AM

Update on my project .. I'm not using the wrx lights anymore. The right side projector was broken. The same Guy has 4 headlights however with a projector n each! Not sure of the vehicle but they look nice.. I will post pics next time I see them!

I assume those are aftermarket projectors.......if so, avoid them.....get some HID projectors, hell do a quad-projector retrofit in those R34s. You won't regret it.

96customax Apr 15, 2011 06:22 PM

Yeah I'm doing 4 projectors and they are coming out of 2 vehicles wit stock hid projectors. Can't use the wrx anymore one side was broke from a wreck..

6.5affiliate Apr 16, 2011 03:10 PM

Agreed with getting both. Without projectors, those HID kits will melt the housing and have horrible glare

Shift_Nismo Apr 16, 2011 03:26 PM

I vote for HID projectors.

That should work. What are those things you used?

Maximeltman Apr 28, 2011 10:45 PM

those look like pipe reducers, right? Looks cool...And is that the Lowe's lady laying down the tile on top of her cardboard shower?

maxgtr2000 Apr 29, 2011 08:27 AM

R34s are pretty short height wise, I hope those work for you.
