Plug and Play LED's 98-99 gauge cluster

I remember someone posting on here a while back about the Neo-x wedge bulbs.
I decided to take the plunge and order some to see if they fit. After removing my old cluster to put in my new SE cluster, I took the bulbs and measured and all of the good stuff. Come to find out the Neo-5 bulbs fit. I ordered the NEOx-HP cool white bulbs, came to like $14 shipped for 5 (4 behind faces, and one behind odometer). All in all Im pretty happy minus the fact they look soft blue through the faces, and they are a little hot right where the bulbs are, BUT if you are like me and not the most electrically inclined person and dont like wiring, then this is your answer.

Also the needles are much clearer in person, i just had my white balance off slightly to pic up the true color of the LED's

looks nice i just order the crystal white's hoping they make my white face gauge cluster look better then oem bulbs ^_^

DIAMONDS98SE 06-17-2011 09:37 AM

I had a similar look with some single smd leds from ebay for a while. they were not nearly as bright though, and i wanted a brighter than stock white, which wasnt acheived with the cool white. i just ordered some 3 smd leds from superbright and they are awesome! i didnt even think to change the one behind the odometer...ill do that tonight. i also put blue leds in my turn signals and check engine. ill post another pic once i get the odometer bulb switched. gauges look nice now :)

demonics12 06-17-2011 10:24 PM

hey op, i got the same bulbs...

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...e/a4597821.jpg

im going to go with warm white, as i want an oem clear white instead of this, but yes, those bulbs are nice.

when i get those, im going to order the individual leds to do the climate control and switches as well :)

what year cluster is that?, the lack of light in the odometer is throwing me off

beatdown97 06-17-2011 11:46 PM

im not sure what year that cluster is but the cluster i have in mine doesnt have a lit up odometer.. its the mechanical type instead of the digital type.. i wish i had one with a digital odometer.
they are usually much clearer and easier to read

MaxJammin 06-18-2011 12:02 AM

mechanical odo= 95-97, digital = 98-99, i believe

demonics12 06-18-2011 12:55 AM

its a 99, the bulb wasnt seating right and all of the sudden the next day it turned on! the previous bulb was burned out... maybe issues? idk. it all works now though

MaxJammin 06-18-2011 01:27 AM

oh, ok, im looking to do this in my 95 with the 96 cluster, but im waiting to see how they look, i know chrisman is doing it

doctaroofy 06-18-2011 12:40 PM

Yes, I've been trying to figure this out too.

NHMAX603 06-19-2011 12:02 PM

i want to do this to mine but my rpm gauge is busted but they would still look great

NHMAX603 06-19-2011 12:09 PM

how do i figure ou what i need for a bulb for 95 white face mechanical gauges ?

eddie982 06-19-2011 03:33 PM

wow these look great, I can finally lose the boring stock look! But i'm going to order cool white for the speed and rpm and red for the fuel and temp gauges!! yes yes, i'm surprised people haven't tried that yet.

Cmaxima 06-19-2011 04:49 PM

So there just plug right in huh? I might need to pick some of these up. The SuperBrightLED warehouse is in the city next to where I live :P

NHMAX603 06-19-2011 05:11 PM

yea you pull your gauge cluster from the dash on the back side they twist in and out easy stuff

if you do that, half of the speedo and rpm gauge's will be lit red

with these bulbs you will need a small, thin flat head to twist the bulb in place. Unlike the OE bulbs, they dont have the nub to turn them with

NHMAX603 06-19-2011 05:29 PM

TY nice max btw my bulbs are on the way ive got soo many parts coming in this week got 1 pc headlights, HID kit, black wood grain dash trim, M3 style mirrors with blinkers, and these LED's im gonna spend my whole birthday workin on my ride LOL

MAXEnvasion 06-20-2011 08:23 PM

does anyone have RED done?
i have a red theme going on and would love to see how it looks before i order

aackshun 06-20-2011 08:59 PM

Give me a few days, ordered red, should be brighter than schmelly's :hide:

Don't forget, I made an interior LED thread, this is great stuff for it, post your dawn/day/dusk/night photos at many angles with the details of which bulbs you brought!!

Looks good tigershark ! What mm did you select when you bought the bulbs ? They have 3 choices. 3mm 4mm or 5mm

It also looks like these bulbs have there own bases, which is all the better as I can save my stock ones if I want to switch back to lightbulbs later.

Xfactor22 06-21-2011 10:05 PM

so these are the NEOx-WHP cool white?

Maxima_Joe 06-21-2011 10:24 PM

To bad they don't make warm white in the NEO lineup since I want to do the auto climate control as well.
I'm just not a fan of the blue output.

Let me know the outcome. Or we can see if superbright has the ability to get or make them in warm white.

tigersharkdude 06-22-2011 08:30 AM

want to email them Joe? I sent them an email, but the more interest shown should be better

MAXEnvasion 06-24-2011 05:31 PM

and i put it in now MY CLUSTER AND CLIMATE CONTROL WONT LIGHT UP
i checked BOTH tail lamp fuses under hood and under steering wheel both are good

maxed_out_99 06-24-2011 11:46 PM

^^ remove the short flip the bulbs 180 degrees they only work one way you should have popped a fuse if you had a short to power a short to ground would result in the lights always illuminated the fuse is there so you dont fry up some wires or burn your car to the ground did you see any magic smoke? that would result in death of a component

hey brad you have a 99 cluster right?

i got my bulbs in today installed them and i must say im a little dissaponted they dont light up like yours do 60mph and 140mph 1k and 5&1/2 to 6k are real dim actually black

wut gives??:gotme:

neo5 x bulbs

tigersharkdude 06-25-2011 06:15 AM

I have the 99 se cluster. Did you get the regular bulbs or the HP bulbs (little SMD led on top)? if you just got the ones that were $1.29...thats your problem

JAMAICANLOVRBOY 06-25-2011 06:52 AM

NHMAX603 06-25-2011 06:52 AM
