Shift knob suggestions
 

Hey guys maybe just a useless post but, i f#%*ed my shift knob up today putting in a STS and I'm kinda anal about these things. I now have the perfect opportunity to get the "Nismo" one but at the same time they are kinda pricey.

What do you guys suggest? does anyone have anything stockish looking, or non ricey looking for sale?

I've heard theories that a weighted shift knob can cause premature synchro wear, as it is applying pressure to the lever, similarly to why they say you shouldn't leave your hand on the shifter as you drive. I dunno if that's all hooey, but the Maxima's shifter is very slick and doesn't feel "notchy" with a lighter shift knob, so I don't risk it.

Looks good, feels good in the hand, feels good to shift. Also: costs $13. I've been using that one almost since I bought the car and have no complaints. It gets a little hot if you leave it in the sunlight, but what doesn't; it cools off quickly once you bring the cabin down to reasonable temperatures. It comes with a nice little jam nut to keep it in place.

The Mitsubishi one works great. Coupled with my custom short throw shifter, my shifts are fast and smooth.

I used a piece of heater hose shoved up inside of it. If cut to the right length, it will flare out over the pressed areas of the shifter and keep the knob in the correct position. Loctite doesn't hurt either. The little rubber band that holds the boot will slide right over the heater hose. I forget the size of the hose, but it was standard size purchased at Lowe's.

I used a custom 300zx shifter, check my interior thread for pictures.

I have the Nismo one you posted in the OP and I love it. It sits lower on the shifter and is not weighted. Im surprised its that expensive though, I bought mine for around $40 a few years ago.

I run the Voodoo knob. Its also weighted and they have many different finishes available.

^ I have the same, but not a voodoo. Brushed aluminum finish ball, fits great in your hand and its weighted so it works great with my sts. Although it does get HOT in the summer if the suns shinning on it, and cold in the winter, but I dont mind.

NISMO make some nice OEM options.
