got rid of the maxima....now what?

Haha. Well said. Like maximaracer28 and I, you were all 16 once. Hope everyone called you a dumbass and said you deserved no better than a piece of crap on 4 wheels. He has the money. It's his choice. He's not gonna go out and buy a civic just cause you guys tell him to. Don't you understand? By being such *******s, all you've done is get him mad. He's still gonna go out and get what he wants.
I'm 16 and I see his situation. I don't care if he's a good driver or not. I said to avoid newer, more expensive car because insurance will slaughter him. I had a list of cars. Those were all nice. All can turn out to be great modded cars. All cost about $5k-$6k. And all of them have insurance that's pretty low. He said he wanted something sporty, not a Camaro or Z3. Those are popular cars down here in TX at my school. Driven by 16 year olds that didn't pay a cent for them. I got my mom's pos car. Before you start bashin him some more, come down here and get your *** beaten by 800+ rich kids who you think should drive civics.
Only a handfull of threads on here are helpfull. Unless you have something decent or usefull to say, DON'T POST!!!!!!!!

I know I have only had this car for about 3 months but I need a 5 spd and something more to suit a 16 year old. I have made a deal with my mom, where I still had a few grand to pay off...that I traded her my 99 maxima for her 99 honda accord, I know what your thinking, but I still had like 5 grand to pay off on my car and I am tired of payments. In this case I get the accord with no payments, and I am selling it. Kbb and nada says the value is $12,950. So I am hoping to get a minimum of about $12k for it. I have started to look at a few cars, and have come down to these:
1. VW GTI VR6
2. BMW 325 or 328 ci
3. Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS
These all seem to be in my price range, and can easily be found in a 5 spd in good condition. I know I have let a lot of you down, and hope you understand I just need something more sportier like I said and 5 spd. The maxima is more then nice for me but I am 16 and want something that will make my back hurt from driving it etc. If anyone wants to give me any input please do, or give me an idea of a car that you think I should be interested in. Also, I will be positng new eibach springs, used cefiro kickplates for sale if anyone wants them. Also if anyone wants to trade for clear tails in the CT area I can do that as well. Since my mom is taking over I minus well put it back to stock. Thanks,
Mike

I might go with another max and a 5 spd, but I looked around and the cheapest one I found was like 12 or 13 grand for abse 97 se 5 spd...I am looking to spend about 10 or so and the rest of the $ I want to spend directly on mods. I am hoping to sell the accord for 12 grand, and I still have the chance to keep the max an continue to make payments on it. I am about to head out to go take some cars out for a drive and see what I like etc. Maybe I will buy a fast, unsafe car just to annoy everyone? Anyways those who did post helpful things then thanks and I will keep everyone updated.

Damn, I would like a bimmer too
I just turned 23 today, so I can't say I'm old enough either...
But a bimmer for 16 year old is little bit going too far, just the fact that you're considering one... ESPECIALLY when you're waxing off other people's cars for money.
Get a decent job that pays you enough first then consider buying one of the cars you mentioned previously.
My first car was Corolla with manual transmission and I was grateful for it.
**Well, how long have you been driving? You must be paying sheit load of money for insurance alone, if you have any car under your own name that is...
I would say ditchin that 99 max was the worst decision you ever made.
You just can't beat the amazing value of Max

well most of you may be happy to know that I am keeping it, I test drove a gti 4 banger today and it was the biggest pos, the impreza I didnt bother with and the BMW's that I looked at had too many miles for my price range. So I wil continue to pay off my car till it's paid off, and contiune to mod it an dhave fun with it.

Guys , i decided something too.... im selling my maxima stock for 10,500, this way , i can get NYC GXE's 5 speed (which is why im selling my car , i need to pick my own gear), and with the mods for 14,000 , so i will have enough money to buy an SVT contour and some mods. I was originally going to sell the maxima all together and get the contour , but ... i love my maxipad. Another happy ending sudz .... well , hopefully happy , i wanna try and sell quick.

Well I'm glad to see that you paid for the car yourself, but think about the future too. You probably have to pay for College/Uni so you should save up for that.
You should be lucky you can afford a '99 Max at your age. My opinion (I'm 18) would be to buy a cheaper car (like a '93 240SX) and invest the rest of the money. Don't mod the car or anything. Wait till your 25, then go all out! Think about, if you save up now, you could get a better car when your really old enough to enjoy it (read: cheaper insurance and more maturity).

More suited to a 16 year old? Okay here's what you do, go get a 91 Civic DX 5spd. That's a perfect car for a 16 year old. Or an 85 camry. Or a CRX HF. Or a Toyota corolla. An '86 Ford Taurus. A 91 Ford Escort ...

Sure it's got no power steering, no a/c, 28 rattles (still counting), a rattling steering column, alot of dings and dents, 10 cans of rubberized undercoat, but it's a 5spd. And it runs of cheapo gas!
So the Escort is a PERFECT car!!!!

as for now I am just saving my $...I figure maybe 2, 3 or maybe even 4 years down the road if I keep saving $, and sell this car there might be a slight change I can buy a use saab viggen, audi s4 or 97 or bmw m3, I know its something most people are against as well, but I figure if I could save up enough $ to buy a 99 se-l max when im 16, then when Im closer to my twenties I can buy something even nicer.

good point, just making sure people know that, and to LIMEY! leave the kid alone, i could think of more then a few things that people just handed to you. Im 19 and i have two cars that i worked very hard for, am i spoiled too ? haha what a brat.

Whatever. Regardless of whether he is spoiled or not, he is always asking me about parts for his car. Then he gets rid of it? WTH. Sounds spoiled to me. And if he's looking for something faster, well, you know, sorry if I care about the fact that young kids die a lot driving like idiots in fast cars. Forgive me.

dont bother pulling the im a victim routine... everyone sees through it , hes a good kid and he doesnt deserve to get sh*t on for making a bad decision. he asks me too, every day since i met the kid, it does get annoying but i try and be nice about it. i dont mind sharing my knowledge and i like learning more. so just let him be

Well thanks for all the help people...and to Pete thanks for backing me up as well. Honestly I dont know what the hell I am doing now, whether its keeping the max and saving for a better car, or buying a 5 spd max and moding or moding this. And so what if I ask about parts for my car? Im sorry I annoy many of you by asking many ?'s but I guess thats the only way to learn. I have started to stop though because unless I know the person directly like Pete, Sprint and others, its usually the "use the search" ****...the org seems to get worst and worst all the time b/c not too many people want to help others as I am seeing more and more, and I am sure many people will agree with me. I just think most of you need to think twice about what you post...

SVT Contour
Well, I'm late to the thread and it looks like you're keeping the max, but you had the option of factory turboed cars like the MR-2 and/or DSM crowd. Cheap enough to modify and get really fast.
As far as the Contour SVT goes, you can find 98-99 SVTs under $12K and there have been owners that did a 3L conversion (some on their own, but now you can get a kit from shoshop.com) that will get the SVT up to around 270HP with all bolt-on mods, including an ECU. Quaifes have been ordered from the UK for around $600 (maybe less)

Im not sure about the Bimmer, but i drove my friends 325 a couple years ago, and it sucked in my oppinion. But hey , im trying ot get a contour SVT, and those are said to be a little slower in the 1/4 then the max, but they make up some of it on highway battles.
