HID questions
So I'm slowly but surely modding my car. One of the first exterior improvements I want to make is HID conversion. My question is, which should I buy first, the HID conversion or new headlight assemblies? Does it matter? I plan on buying both.

Buy them both and install them togather. you can install HID conversion but it looks ugly lol.

Retro retro retro.

Chris said it best! And ... it shows, doesn't it!?! Those are beautiful man ... offer to make this poor kid some ? ;)
:wall: |
I figured both would be the answer. Just on a budget...guess I can wait. Just hate the stock lights. Got some front end work to do first anyway. Nice being a metal fabricator :D

If you get low beams the glare wont be so bad. then again you have a 99. I have a 96 and the glare is nada. Different story with high beams lol

I've had both a plug and play hid kit and now a projector retro. There is no comparison. If you can't afford to do a retro then leave your headlights ALONE! (until you can :D )
|
As been said before, retro, retro retro!!!

Only the color is changed in my sig. Really not bright at all.
OP, if you want a cheap little upgrade, do the 9007 bulb conversion. |
Retro all the way!...I'm waiting for ChrisMan287 to do mine!...
|
If you want it done right get a retrofit done. That being said, you CAN drive with the stock housings as I did but vision isn't so great because the beam scatters everywhere and you do blind people. If you don't get a retrofit your life is not over, but later on you will realize it has to be done. Just like buying lowering springs with no aftermarket shocks, you'll realize you do need the extra bit

Oh...well thats kind of what I meant in m original post...
|
MH1 Projector retro. Or if the 95-99 housings can fit it, MD2S.
|
I have some old projectors from my IS300...what do you think??

if i were to tear into my suspension I would be replacing it all at the same time... not my area of expertise... its a royal pain for me. |

Get whatever you need from Chrisman...he does killer retrofits! Then come to the meet in July and show them off! |
With little persuasion...I'm on board...this is gonna be sweet...
|
Retrofit is the only way to go just like the Chris Man said.
|
Well, after doing a little research ( like I should have done in the first place) it actually doesn't look too difficult. My day job is fabricating way more complex and critical componants. Aerospace standards and tolerances are a mfer.

here was my first take on doin a retro myself, it wasnt hard just time consuming an tedious. youll want bi-xenon projectors for best performance, i used the low beam projectors from a infiniti j30 so that means i have no high beams, besides the out put is way better then stock
http://my4thgen.org/showthread.php?t=156 an after you master that you can try this http://my4thgen.org/showthread.php?t=806 enjoy :) |
O god. Retro. Retro. No hids without them.
|
2 Attachment(s)
GS300 projector retrofitted into stock housing with 6000k HID's
Attachment 50635 Attachment 50636 If you send your lights to Chrisman he'll retro them for you for a good price and professional quality. Or you could attempt to do it yourself with a dremal and some trial and error. |
Im looking at different projectors to put in. Prices arent as bad as I imagined. very doable. i think i can handle this project. fog retro will be a little more tedious considering my car doesnt even have them so it will all be from scratch. not gonna happen tomorrow, but it will get done.
