here's why my starters keep going bad
1 Attachment(s)
I've put in 3 since last October. First one fried, second one clunked, third one has worked like a champ since May 31. I was poking around under the hood today, and here's what I saw--lifetime warranty but do I really want to put a replacement in every 3 mos?
Took out the air cleaner and wrapped it best I could with electrical tape. :) Attachment 28850 |
Sorry for being stupid and not trying to be a smart ***... but what exactly is the problem
|
Or what did you wrap? What was causing it?

So I wrapped it best I could with electrical tape, to hopefully prevent a future short. Even though it's got a lifetime warranty, I just want my car to start, and it does it on the 1st try everytime with the current starter #3... Attachment 28846 |
Umm...let's say that was the problem, the OEM insulator is from plastic. Check the 4th gen classifieds and you will see a set of OEM ones that have it cracked but worked for years...

It is a sad commentary that the rebuilder chooses to ignore and not replace a damaged part.

Very sad

^I don't know how I didn't notice that. That's certainly a problem!!
