95 Max runs rough at stop light and in reverse

Hi Guys,

so I have a 95 maxima that started to vibrate right after it turned over. initially the max vibrated in park and would only vibrate at idle and up to 1500rpm, then it would smooth out and run like butter. while driving it also only vibrates right before I come to a stop and at idle, but while at speed (above 20mph) you cannot tell anything is wrong.

this morning it would not vibrate as much in park and only vibrated a little in drive while coming to a stop and REALLY kicked in when I backed it up.

last night I had my brother in the car and push the peddle in and out, since I can feel the vibration in the peddle I figured to see if the throttle cable area was vibrating and sure enough it was like an earthquake. as far as I can tell the engine was not moving but I guess it is a little since the vibration is at the throttle cable area. btw the defroster was not on, I do not remember if I had heat on.

now to narrow it down a little, what I have had done in the last 3 years to the front:

TWO new front axles (1 year and 2 years)
Two new CV Joints (both about 1.5 years ago)
new belts (3 years)
alignment (6 months)
new strut mounts on both sides (1 year ago)
new evaporator line hose (summer)

last night it was about 20 degrees so im thinking something plastic somewhere finally gave out, as this seems to be a major problem with a 18 year old car.

car facts:

95 maxima gxe 4spd auto
103k

based on what I described do you think its motor mounts went?

EDIT: not throwing any codes and feels the same as when I got a belt replaced and the tensioner broke. I did check the belt though and it seemed ok.

anything guys? maybe its a coil? or plugs?

I'm thinking plugs or coils, especially since its only been doing it for a short period of time. The only issue I have though is that a bad coil would throw a CE light code.

ok, I think what im going to do is pull the plugs out and check them this weekend. if I remember correctly I replaced 2 or 3 of the coil's a few years back (the car would rough idle very VERY intermittently), the plugs also got changes 3 years ago. sure glad you don't think its the motor mounts. thanks for the confirmation.

unplug one by one when the car is running, you'll quickly find find a problem that way
