Starting problem CEL p1335
 

Someone please help! So the other day, car started & ran great as always. Changed the oil then then went to start the car after the oil change and it wouldnt start. Eventually after about 10 seconds of cranking the engine fired up but the car through a p1335 code at me which is for the crank shaft position sensor. So i went to the parts store got a new sensor and put it in, and went ahead and changed the stArter as well. Not to mention i have a new battery that is about a week old as well. And with the new sensor, starter and battery the car still takes about 6-7 seconds of cranking before firing up. And every time it starts i get the p1335 code even after erasing the code. Im at a dead end some help would be apriciated thanks

Clear the code, unplug the sensor you replaced and then restart it. Let me know what code pops up then.

Same code p1335 and i tested the sensor and it tests okay but i still get the same code

Check your wiring harness where it goes from the engine bay to the firewall. It makes a crazy bend by the strut tower. They're know to break wires there. You'll have to remove the plastic loom covering the harness to thoroughly inspect the wires. Also test continuity from the sensor to the ECM. Keep in mind, even if the wires look ok, you should still do a continuity test. The wire can break inside the insulation.

Okay ill check that next let me know if u have any more ideas cause im out of them

Do u have any Idea which wire it is cause wouldnt there be a bunch of different wires there ?

There is no need to check that far back. Inspect the harness where it leaves the sensor and goes back to the front of the valve cover. At the bottom of the sensor, there is an aggressive bend there. Inspect the red wire for breakage.

You tested it with an oscilliscope? If you what the code to vanish you need to clear it with a OB2 tool.....Let me guess where you purchased this cranksensor from Autozone???

The code was cleared with a scanner,
Yes, I purchased an autozone sensor,
but when I found the bad wire in the harness,
I put the multi meter on the factory sensor, it tested good,
so I re-installed it, fixed the bad wire, cleared the code,,,
and the car has been running awesome ever sense

Fixing this issue resulted in the car lighting off after only a second or two? I have exactly the same issue. So it must crank longer because it can't figure out the crankshaft position or something to that effect.

Continuity from the sensor to the ECM sounds like a solid approach but where do you connect to the ECM? Know which pin or socket?

Check the crankshaft sensor REF plug. U really need to push until u hear snap
 

I am assuming the crankshaft sensor REF is loose. Please push the plug until u hear snap
