Engine oil.
What kind and brand of engine oil should be used to get true horsepower from your engine.
I have used castrol synthetic and edge brand. The engine does perform well when using full synthetic oil. Just want to know what the other members have been using to get the best outcome. Plus it would be nice if the replies give zero to sixty times. FOR INSTANCE MY 1998 MAXIMA GXE RESULTS ARE AS FALLOWING Castrol full synthetic 9.5 valvoline high mileage 14.4 mobile one 11.4 And a combination of mobile one with liquid molly and marvel mystery the best I got was 8.2. |
lol oil has nothing to do with horsepower. synthetic is best, if youre burning oil run 10w-30. if youre not burning oil, run 5w-30. easy as that

Mobil 1 0W-40 with pure one filter. Walmart has the oil for $25 a jug(5qts) but if you go to a parts store it'll be $50 for the oil. Great cold start lubrication and GT-R rated on the back. Curious to see your results.

Why would he burn oil with 0-40? That's a zero weight oil with friction modifiers to make it act like a 40 weight when it's hot. 40 weight is to heavy, the zero will give a nice easy start up when it's really cold outside.

I've run either a synthetic 10W-40 or a synthetic 5W-40 in my 137,000 mi. VQ30 for years ... it loves it. And my UOA proves it. But ... I do live in FL. |

Also, 137,000 miles on a 15 year old car comes out to 9,133 miles/year. Not your daily driver I assume? |

Although the car runs very well and very quite on the W-40 stuff, I wanted to make sure it was truly happy and not just keeping it's mouth shut. I had the opportunity to have one run so I did. I don't have any other analyses from my motor to compare it to, just the statistical norms and acceptables.

For oil the castrol edge syntec that's made in Germany which is 0w30 is better than the Mobil 1 0w40 because its a thicker 30 weight and it does not shear as fast as the Mobil 1 0w40 and it lasts longer. The Mobil 1 becomes a thin 0w30 after a while where the castrol stays a30 weight and has better shear stability. This is one of the best oils on the market available.
