Q45/5.5/6th gen frankenbrakes?

OK, some B15 (2000-06 Sentra) guys discovered that Q45 calipers were direct bolt on when using their original torque members and rotors. Start reading at post #14.
B15/Q45 caliper swap

What Im curious about, is will 5.5 or 6th gen rotors and torque members and Q45 calipers mate up and work without heavy machining? My Idea is a junkyard BBK for highway driving and filling up the 17"s on the Maximustang.

If ANYONE has this combination of parts laying around, please mock it up and share results.

Most Nissan torque members will bolt onto to other Nissan models with no problem torque member wise....The mitch-match will invlove the rotors bolt patterns and rotor diameter....But I know my 00-01 Maxima caliper torque will bolt to my Nissan D21 spindle! the junkyard is the perfect place to find out what interchangeable....there was also a interchangeable book for that purpose back in the day...

Here's a thread on the topic regarding a J30 upgrade.

q45 and j30 calipers both bolt directly to 4th gen torque members, though depending on your rotor choice you will likely have to do modification to the torque member to get the rotor to fit. the q45 and j30 calipers i have seen are almost identical (though not completely) if my memory serves, but i think there are variations from year to year in q45 and j30 calipers so ymmv. it's all fuzzy all these years later. i used to know this stuff like the back of my hand.

i have j30 calipers on 4th gen torque members on my fast car. honestly can't remember what rotors I'm using currently since I've used so many different combos. i think 28mm j30 rotors but not sure (haven't driven that car more than around the block a couple times in 3 years now).

OK, So "early" Q45 calipers should fit Maxima torque members. I have access to a Q45 at the wrecking yard, but what constitutes "early"?

I want the largest Maxima rotors and matching torquemembers (6th gen?) I can get, and then bolt the 2 pots on to them.

So I guess the question would then be, do calipers interchange between 4,5,5.5,& 6th gen?

Unfortunately there are no Maximas at the wrecking yard here.:(

Have you see where people who make this modification mill 8mm from the OUTSIDE diameter of the ROTORS? There may be some grinding required on other parts.

Early Q is the G50 series like the 91 model in this picture. ;)

If you look at the links in the previous post, there is no milling. That is the idea behind running rotors and brackets off the same car. Even using Maxima brackets and J30 rotors you can use 1/16" spacers between the rotor and hub to gain the necessary clearance without machining.

That is when using Q45 torque members on a maxima. This is because the mounting ears on the Maxima steering knuckles are located closer to the axle center than on the Q45. This makes the Q45 torque member essentially shorter than the Maxima Torque member.

Using say, an '04 Maxima torque member would put the Q45 caliper right in the sweet spot on an '04 Maxima rotor. Minor filing might be necessary on the sides of the caliper to clear the bracket and shims, but this would only take a minute with a file of a second with a 4" grinder. This package would use Maxima pads, as the torque member dictates the pads used.

Of course this is just theoretical, and pieced together from what Ive read on the org.

Here is a good , albeit convoluted read (that has already been posted earlier in the thread) with all the combos discussed.

13" Cobra + Q45 / J30 Caliper upgrade possibility

I see no one has done exactly what I propose, but seeing what is compatible and clears what, I think it will work.
