Maxima Forums - Rotor/Caliper help? Desperately need opinions!!

So I have a '97 Nissan Maxima I just bought. When I went to charge the rear brake pads, I wasn't aware that the piston groove had to line up with the nub on the back of the pad. Drove the car smelled burning metal. Smoke from the driver side rear tire. Let it cool off, jacked up the car and tried to turn tire. Would barely budge with no brake applied, emergency or pedal. Pulled off the tire and found the problem (piston jammed sideways because of metal nub on pad). I removed the caliper, readjusted it so it sat right, and put the tire back on. Would still barely budge. Worked on this thing for 2 hours before I decided to get some opinions. The only thing that was told to me was that when the brake piston jammed in sideways it wore the pad in a way that its caught up, and that if I drive it a little bit that the pad will wear evenly and it'll free up. Does this sound legit? I'm only a little skeptical because I don't wanna start a fire, but I work as a driver and my first day will be tomorrow. Thanks in advance! (P.S., I've tried everything. The piston is not in a bind anymore, the emergency brake is not seized. Its something to do with the pads/rotor, but the rotor is perfectly balanced and hasn't taken any damage, even when the brake pad overheated. So naturally I assume it IS the pads wearing very unevenly. I just need to know if driving it will fix the problem)
