Ebay Exhaust Installed (Pics/Video) (Reference)

Recently got my eBay exhaust installed. I've paid $400 for the whole setup. Including another $400 for installation.
Headers + Ypipe, Magnaflow High Flow Cat Converter, and 4 Inch Muffler + Resonator. Surprisingly sounds good for something that isn't a Stillen or OBX setup.
It's not raspy or farty, has a nice deep tone, fairly loud even with the silencer in. I wasn't a fan of the whole 4" muffler tip look, some cars can pull it off.
On this car it's iffy, I'd prefer it at least another inch smaller. They did a great job welding it. Take note that in the cat converter picture,
they did a small custom fab job on the piping. I believe they used another o2 sensor pipe that was laying around in their shop.

Sounds better in person, when I get the chance I will do a drive by of it. Please excuse the popping,
just started it up and probably had a little bit of water inside the muffler from a wash.

You paid $400 for the install? :tardclap: You must be a :baller:

I'll take that back..they did your headers also?
That's not bad then.

They did the whole thing. They had my car for a day and a half. Back half was a piece of cake to them. It was the headers that was a pain. I didn't have a choice to pay that. Everywhere else I go it would've still been 400-500. I was originally quoted $250, but the guy never looked at it.

No exhaust sounds good with a silencer in it. I think another video w/o the silencer is in order.

Sounds fine to me. I'll upload it soon.

ChrisMan287 08-28-2014 09:05 PM

Put some worm clamps around the last two rubber hangers to pull it up and remove the silencer. Or paint it black so it doesn't look so :007:

Itz Shak 08-28-2014 09:28 PM

Wait... are you saying you got all that stuff for $400...? damn 4th gens.. -.-
Nice clean car btw

RealityCheck 08-29-2014 06:11 AM

Yeah I'm gonna paint the silencer black so it looks a bit better.

Thanks Shak, yeah stupid 4th gens!

I find it funny that people cover their license plate only to have it completely visible all day long on every road traveled...

Internet stalkers are more plentiful than neighborhood stalkers.

It's for privacy reasons. I don't need my plate number to be visible to anyone online. Especially Facebook. I'm into photography, so I take a bunch of pics at local meets. I also blur out the plates as well. Most people don't.

CMax03 08-29-2014 06:30 PM

My 2.5" custom exhaust system sounds very high quality with no silencers, and flows well too!

It's a habit at this point.

LMAO.

CS_AR 08-30-2014 07:31 AM

You've got it going on there. I hope to order some of the tail lights soon. I've got one of those eBay exhaust systems from the cat back. I've got it hooked up to a Magnaflow high-flow cat, with a WS Y-pipe, and stock headers. I need to pull the silencer this weekend to take it for a run just to see if I can feel a performance difference.

The current tires are 245x45x18s which I know took a bite out of low end performance. The plan is to replace those with some 225x40x18 within a couple of weeks.

CMax03 08-30-2014 09:37 AM

If you every get tired of the loudness just purchase a 5" x 11" x 22" Magnaflow (rear mufler) and a 22" long 4" round Magnaflow muffler (resonator) and the sound is smooth and throaty stepping in it but nearly nearly not audible at idle or part throttle operation. The bigger the muffler the better (straight thru perforated style), I believe from looking at it that it's a 2.5" exhaust system...Great price for the merchandise!

got me a pacesetter cattback. same as i had before, nice low groan to it, added a warpspeed y 2 months ago as well. love it.

I'm ditching that set up ASAP including the high flow cat.
That warpspeed flex section loves to rasp and I get too much drone around 2500-3000.

Trying to fit a 30" magnaflow under there real soon..think I can fit it as long as I add a secondary o2 bung to the test pipe..the picture I saw of that resonator fitting on a 4th gen only had about 1.5" of clearance between the cat and the other flange and the secondary o2 was the 95-96 type installed in the cat..I have a 97 fed.
Gotta love customizing to get what you want.
The equal length headers that I still need to finish a hanger bracket for better make the sound amazeballs too. :mardi:

When I think about how expensive this mandrel bent ss 3" set up from Cattman headers back has been for me, the only thing that makes me feel better is knowing it's junk compared to the wizard's titanium 4". :vqman:

RealityCheck 08-30-2014 02:26 PM

This picks up really well compared to my old crap exhaust. Inside the car it tends to be a tad loud and rattles slightly from the back piping when you give it throttle but for mere 2-3 seconds it happens. Trying to find it so I can wedge something there but the way it fits is tight ;), not much room above it.

Kartboy poly exhaust hangars would help you alot.....But shortening and bending the exhaust hooks would help as well...

I believe I fixed it. On the S shaped pipe there was a flange with the tightest fit between a rear suspension arm and I think the spare wheel well or maybe the gas tank. Anyways speaking of shorting and bending the hooks. Good thing I don't have bigger wheels because the hook on the right side would have interfered. I need to shorten it eventually.

if you have an older warpspeed y, the flex sections on those were twice as long. i noticed this when i got the new one and installed it. sounds better, and i had the rear section custom made, the one that goes over the rear beam cause it was slamming on top of the beam and driving me nucking futs!!!

Updated the thread with a no silencer video clip.

I had so much problems with that flange touching as well... Tried maneuvering so many ways. Eventually I cut the flanges off and used a piece of pipe as a connector with some u-clamps.

I need to find some small rubber wedges thin enough to become snug. Temporarily stuck stainless steel wool scrubbers there.

I zip-tied a piece of 5/8" rubber hose on mine. It falls out of place every now and again and I've recently been considering just hacking the flange out and using a SS safety seal clamp.

The Wizard 09-03-2014 01:46 PM

Are you guys saying this 2.5" Ebay catback has fitment issues too? The flange at the gas tank appears to be a million miles away from the gas tank yet right next to the trailing arm connection. I assume it bangs here and this is what you guys are talking about?

Sounds better. Less farting. No sure if you'll feel the power loss at your level, but typically silencers rob power.

Exactly.

aackshun 09-03-2014 07:43 PM

I had banging/rattling issues w/ that on my 96 (cattman 3" was the exhaust used)

I just used a rubber vacuum line cap (purchased the pack from vatozone) and some e6000 glue and called it a day.

It might be a problem for the poor SOB who wants to drop the trailing arms though (why in heavens name would anyone need to do that, idk )

ES Bushings.

RealityCheck 09-04-2014 07:31 AM

I do have some spare fuel hose left, maybe I could nudge it between. As far as power loss, I don't notice anything. I'm sure there is a slight difference but both with and without silencer it just is naturally loud. I can't leave it off because it's just ridiculous. Sounds nicer but it gets annoying. It's like having a damn turbo diesel with a 5 inch pipe in this car.
