5th Gen Sway Bar on 4th Gen?

Hello everyone!

I've been looking at the 5th gen Max front sway bar, more specifically if there is any benefit to swapping it in place of the stock 4th gen sway bar. They look very similar, but do they actually swap over?
IIRC from searching, the 5th gen is a little bigger diameter, and the 5.5 gen is a little bigger still. Can the brackets be swapped over? Do they line up?
I see the LCA on the 5th gen is different, but is the sway bar bracket the same?
The end-links are different and would have to be swapped over from the 5th gen bar.

I figured if there was a big performance boost, it would be a well known swap on the .org, even if there is just a little boost, I'll give it a try. I am going to be swapping poly bushings in, so now would be the time to swap the whole bar.

Thanks in advance for any answers I can get!

Waste of time IMO.
Probably fits, but idk 100%.
The SE has a 1mm bigger bar on 4th gen if that matters to you.
I say just get a FSTB and call it a day.

i think the better option would be trying to find some adjustable endlinks. im sure that a set could be retrofitted onto a 3rd/4th/5th gen with some clever thinking. if you can put more tension on the sway bar i will be like upgrading to a larger sway bar.

I saw the writeup about the adjustable end links. Looks like the 5th gen ends are better at stopping binding.

Crusher - When you say tension, you don't mean left to right do you? Do you load it so it pushes down equally on both wheels? From what I read, mine is doing that already because if the 1.5" drop.

From reading other articles about the adjustable links, the point is to make them smaller, reducing the preload? Is that right?

OK, so I went the junkyard today and took a look at the LCA's on both 97 and 2003 maxims along with the sway bars. They look really close. For the $15 they want for a sway bar, I'm temped to try it and see what happens. Its not like its a lot of money, and its kind of a fun project.

I have one question, its for the 2003 maxima SE, how do I get the sway bar out? There does not look to be enough room, and there aren't any with the engines pulled. Is there a easy way to remove the bar, or is it stuck in there until the steering rack moves?

PS - Thanks Crusher and Fakie for your input. I know its not a big gain type of mod that will make a huge difference. I'm looking at junkyard mods that can make the car a little better with very little money. Like the 00VI and the 5.5 gen front brake upgrade. I have a dozen or so 5-5.5 gens to pick from, might as well make use of them. What I really want is the 3.5 thats sitting above the sway bar. But that is a ways off.

srsly?

I'd never recommend doing this as a mod.

And it actually made a difference on my I35, and I still wouldn't recommend it.

As for my 4th gen, I actually disconnect my sway bar for better cornering
