I Keep Blowing Maf Sensors

I'm on my fourth maf sensor now.. 03 3.5 swap

The problem mainly starts if its wet out or theres a lot of moisture in the air. I initially get symptoms of hesitation, loss of power, bucking etc., then the car dies and will only crank.

Once I put another sensor in it starts right up no problem...

Anybody else have similar problem? I haven't had chance to check the maf harness yet but is there anything else I should check for???

If you keep replacing the same part, and the problem continues to happen over and over again, then I think it's time you start looking at something else as the cause.

The MAF sensor doesn't pick up or have the ability to read or sense moisture.
Aftermarket or stock intake?

Aftermarket intake with oil air filter. I also thought maybe this was the cause so this time I left it off and cleaned it first before I reinstall it (at work currently). Also ordered a k&n dryflow...

I seen this video that says oil filters damaging mafs is a myth? Or maybe our sensors are much more sensitive? Idk at this point...

Try a dry flow air filter with stock intake or even just a dry flow. It works wonders. AEM is a good brand

5.5+ MAFs can be temperamental.

Grab a OEM 5th gen sensor and swap over your thermistor.

Woops! Either way, installing a 5th gen MAF sensor will allow you to run cant_get_ryte's dyno proven intake.

Might get more accurate replies from the 5th generation section.
Most of us still have the 3.0 engine.

So I think I found the problem.. Turns out I forgot I had a 3.5 oil pan and 3.5 crank sensor spliced into the harness.. Bought a 3.5 cps and so far so good

The difference in the 3.0 cps and 3.5 is the 3.5 cps is slightly longer

Thanks for the help guys!

Still blowing maf sensors. Only sensor I haven't changed was the cam sensor... When I plug a new sensor it it runs. Once the car is warm I shut it off and it won't start again...

I'm at the end of the road with this car. No issues until recently

Is the maf sensor harness spliced opened where its exposed that can lead to having a bad maf sensor. Is the water tampering with the maf wires and harness.

Nope checked that earlier today. I even soldered in a new plug bc the old one wasn't clicking..

I'm wondering if the alternator/battery is getting hot when it runs, making the maf malfunction??

Do you have any of the wires running from the maf to the alt/batt?

What kind of MAF are you using? What brand? The only ones worth buying are OEM, Bosch, and Beck/Arnley. The rest are Chinese garbage.

Use a regular air filter like Wix.

What gen ecu and maf you using. The ecu on 3.0 and maf have different voltage than the 3.5 iirc.

Ecu is 4th gen and maf is 4th gen. Is the motor 3.5 swap completly top and bottom. Is the harness all of a 4th gen or 5th gen. Is the fuse box completly been swaped replaced 5th gen. I am trying to pinpoint the problem. The voltage is spiting out big somewhere. The maf try 5th gen.

3.0 timing swap, 4th gen harness/fuse box

I have a 5th gen maf and plug on the way. But if I'm not mistaken, 5th gen maf has 4 wires and 4th gen has 3?

Which was my next question in finding how to wire the 5th gen maf

I got the 5th gen maf and I'm looking at it, but I don't understand what you mean with the color connections

Giving you an idea what you should have and how you should connect the maf. Did you ground the maf and is it high or low input/output shorting the maf out.

Sorry for the late update Ive been busy. Took a break from crying myself to sleep..

Finally got around to grounding the maf sensor today. When I tested it it was out of specs. After grounding the voltage dropped significantly...

So I figured I fixed it, but then the car wouldn't start after shutting the car off...

Turns out the cam sensor was also bad. After replacing car starts and drives with no issues again.. ✌

I'll keep this post updated if I run into anymore issues (I hope not)
