Need Help Please! Internal steering wheel parts needed asap!
Hey guys/gals, someone out there has to have these parts.
Wife and I were driving her 96 Maxima the other day and the horn just goes off on it's own. Took the center section/airbag off and noticed the four white plastic bumpers that hold the center up from making contact are broken and only one left(there's one plastic piece in each corner inside the steering wheel). I guess they got brittle over time. I've checked online but these are not sold separately. Can someone please contact me and sell me these if you have them!! I know it's no big deal and I have the horn fuse pulled but she wants it fixed.

Drive to a junkyard and get them today or tomorrow. To me the horn is pretty useless anyways and keeping it off he car will make you seem like less of a jackass when you get mad
These are going to become a problem for the hardcores hanging onto their 4th Gens forever.
Some here have gone to the Pull a Part JYs and as they remove them, they disintegrate.
If anybody finds any, somehow it needs to be scanned for 3D printing. I'd pay $5 each plus shipping to have my car the way it's supposed to be. And when it happens to me, in desperation.... probably double.
Yeah, I know all this stuff is old. Hard to get rid of a car that runs great with 258,000 miles. My wife loves her car. I'd pay good money for these parts too. That would be awesome if someone could make them.
I don't remember seeing what you need. Is there a pic? Also are these generation specific? Or even model?
Hi, I don't have a pic but if you look up 96 nissan maxima oem steering wheel on ebay there is one with the airbag removed. There are 4 small round white plastic pieces...one in each corner attached to the metal on the wheel, not the airbag. Not 100% sure but should be the same 95-99.
Ok... I saw them in a steering wheel removal video. How do they come out? Pinch from behind? Also does the metal pieces they are connected to come out? Might be safer to remove the metal instead of trying to remove them
Metal part comes out via the two larger bolts on each side facing you I think. The plastic pieces slide onto the metal parts from the top and bottom I think. The ones that broke of mine are in pieces so can't really tell how they connect...sorry.
Here is a better pic of the plastic what I would call bumpers. The air bag hits the bumper and since the airbag is not grounded the ground for the horn is completed. The brackets are spring loaded so force on the airbag will cause the spring to compress grounding the metal bracket and grounding the horn switch.
