Check Engine Light

Doesn't this light come on temporarily whenever the car is started just to ensure the bulb is working? For some reason mine isn't anymore. I' can get it to blink the error codes by using the ecu screw. What could be the reason?

what year maxima? those bulbs can burn out, or ( hopefully not ) the ecu isn't working properly. you have a scanner? run to see if you have any codes pending, if it doesn't read the ecu, you might have a problem.

Yes I have a cheap scanner. It's a 96 SE Maxima. In don't think it has burnt out because it was lit just a few minutes earlier but who know what can happen within then.

Well, I mean any bulb that burns out will be lit moments before it burns out.

I have no Check Engine Light or overdrive light .
I am thinking it a wiring harness some where.

If your MIL bulb is burnt or failing, you're ECU will store a code ... P0650.

But you'll need a scan tool to see the code.
