99 SEL ...rims won't come clean

I found a 99 in good shape and rims are the SEL titanium . They have what appears to be stains on the rims from maybe a harsh cleaner. Anyone have this happen to them and what could fix this ? Thanks https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/maxima....3b4dbb0e44.jpg

They look way better than mine at 207K. But most of your clear coat is gone.

If you have 4 seasons, the titanium paint and clear coat seems to quit faster than the normal paint used.

If you don't have much curb rash, you can get them smooth and repaint and clear coat them. Better if the tires are off too. For results that look new and will last, it's a LOT of work and they also need time to cure fully to keep that new look longer. Rattle cans can work, but you'll get better results with a compressor, guns and all the right ingredients.

Mine have flat spots from pot holes so they don't justify the commitment.

I'll look for a set of 2001 SE 16" x 6.5" rims instead. Perfect fit and they seem to avoid curb rash better. That's worth the effort to paint right!

If you find that exact color titanium paint, please let me know! It stands out!

Based on the pattern on the wheel(s), it looks to me like someone was trying to clean the brake caliper(s) and perhaps the rotors.

The wheel looks like its been exposed to some caustic cleaner that's oxidized the clear coat.

I suggest trying to polish the oxidation out.

Try Brasso and/or Mother's Aluminum Polish and see how it goes.
